    Awesome Trip

Chandler was awesome. He was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his craft. He put us on the fish and taught us a lot. Highly, highly recommend this trip if you enjoy the sport of targeting fish and going for them.

Permit are powerful inshore game fish known for sharp eyesight and stubborn fights. Anglers target them for the challenge of the stalk and the thrill of long runs. Permit fishing often happens on shallow, clear flats where careful presentation matters. Hooking one rewards patience, skill, and a cool head under pressure.

Most trips focus on sight casting in the flats, or working channels, reefs, and wrecks nearby. Live crabs are the classic bait, with shrimp and small jigs also effective. Fly fishing with crab patterns is popular and requires accurate casts. Light spinning gear with long leaders helps fool wary fish. Move quietly, watch their body language, and place the bait ahead of the fish.

Expect a hunt. You will scan the water, wait for a shot, then make a precise cast. This suits anglers who enjoy stealth, focus, and a technical fight rather than nonstop action. Bring polarized sunglasses to spot fish, sun protection, and non-marking shoes. A soft landing net and quick, careful handling help with healthy releases.

Regulations for Permit vary by region and can change. Always check local fishing license and permit rules before your trip. Review current seasons, harvest limits, and gear restrictions, and follow your captain’s guidance for ethical, responsible fishing.
