    Great time

We caught 10 fish several different breeds and types. The captain was very knowledgeable and helpful the entire time we were there; we stayed out fishing until it was completely dark to give us as much time as we could to fish and catch more. The captain even adjusted the time to give us better chances of catching more based on the tide and weather. I would gladly schedule another trip with him

We’ve lived here a few years and have not beach fished , it started out slow and picked up as it was our time to leave . Which was fine, I’ve met two nice people and they worked it well in the 8 poles we had out ! Was a nice way to spend my morning, thank you J&D !

Pompano are fast, hard-fighting inshore game fish that love warm, sandy shores. Anglers target them for quick runs, clean hits, and top-tier table fare. Pompano fishing is simple to learn, fun for all ages, and a great way to build confidence on the beach or pier.

You can catch Pompano while surf fishing, pier fishing, or inshore fishing along sandy flats. Light spinning tackle is ideal. Most anglers use bottom fishing rigs with small hooks. Top baits include sand fleas, which are mole crabs found in the wash, along with shrimp and clams. Small metal jigs and bright “pompano jigs” also work. Cast into the troughs between sand bars and let the bait sit, or hop a jig so it puffs sand and draws strikes.

Expect steady action when fish are schooling and moving with the tide. The bite often improves at first light and late afternoon, especially when waves stir the bottom. This style of fishing suits beginners, kids, and seasoned anglers who enjoy reading the surf and timing their casts. Wear sun protection and polarized sunglasses to spot troughs. Bring a sand spike for your rod, spare leaders, and a cooler with ice if you plan to keep legal fish where allowed.

Rules for Pompano vary by state and region. Before your trip, check local fishing license and permit needs. Review season dates, gear rules, and harvest limits for your area. If you book a charter, your captain will explain current regulations and safe handling so you can enjoy your Pompano fishing day with confidence.
