Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report – Dorado and Wahoo – August 27, 2026 2 Dorado and 1 Wahoo for a Halifax Family August 27, 2026 A five-hour family fishing trip in Cabo produced a strong mixed-species result for Justin, Jordyn, Allan and Nancy from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Fishing aboard the 50-foot Viking Blue Ocean with Captain YoYo, the family finished their morning with 2 dorado and 1 wahoo. The charter concentrated on the Lighthouse and Los Arcos, two productive areas that allowed the crew to adjust their fishing presentation as they moved through the morning. A dredge was incorporated into the spread to create additional attraction behind the boat and help draw pelagic fish toward the trolling presentation. Working both the Lighthouse and Los Arcos also gave the crew flexibility. Instead of spending the entire five-hour trip in one location, Captain YoYo could work different water while looking for bait, current changes and signs of active pelagic fish. Cabo Fishing Report – August 9, 2026 – Sailfish Released 1 Sailfish Caught and Released Charter Date: August 9, 2026 Charter Length: 8 Hours Boat: Blue Ocean – 50' Viking Catch: 1 Sailfish Caught and Released August 9 delivered a memorable father-and-son fishing experience for Nicolas and his 12-year-old son Johan. Visiting Cabo from France, they headed offshore for an eight-hour private charter aboard the 50-foot Viking Blue Ocean. The warm August conditions eventually produced the opportunity they were looking for: a powerful sailfish that gave the pair an exciting encounter before being successfully released. Searching Offshore While Fishing Cabo in August Eight hours on the water gave the crew time to search beyond the areas immediately surrounding Cabo San Lucas and adjust the fishing strategy as the day developed. Summer conditions were warm, with ocean temperatures around 87°F. These tropical waters can support several highly sought-after offshore species, including sailfish, marlin, dorado and yellowfin tuna. For Nicolas and Johan, the defining moment arrived when the sailfish entered the action. Sailfish are known for their speed, athletic fights and unmistakable dorsal fin. Edward, Kyler, Marcus, Yoshi and Brandon joined Captain Yoyo for a six-hour private offshore charter and finished the trip with four quality game fish. The final catch included two yellowfin tuna and two wahoo, giving the group two very different offshore fishing experiences during the same Cabo charter. Searching Productive Offshore Water Around Cabo A six-hour charter provides enough time to move offshore and search for productive water while still requiring the captain and crew to make efficient decisions. Captain Yoyo and the crew concentrated on locating activity and keeping the fishing presentation ready when opportunities developed. The yellowfin tuna delivered the strength associated with one of Cabo's most popular offshore species. Tuna are powerful swimmers, and once hooked they can produce sustained runs and demanding fights. The wahoo brought something completely different. Known for explosive strikes and exceptional speed, wahoo can turn a quiet trolling spread into immediate action. Catching two wahoo along with two yellowfin tuna gave the anglers a diverse day rather than a trip dominated by a single species.
