Walleye fishing in Lake Champlain, United States draws anglers for its healthy, wild fish and classic Northern scenery. These prized Panfish relatives are known for sharp eyesight, firm white fillets, and a strong low‑light bite. The lake’s mix of rocky points, weed edges, and current makes it a reliable Walleye playground.

Guides here often troll crankbaits along contours at dawn and dusk. Many also bottom fish with crawler harnesses, which use spinning blades and nightcrawlers to attract fish. Jigging with minnows around drop-offs works well when fish hold tight to structure. In winter, safe-ice days may allow jigging through the ice with small spoons.

Most Walleye trips use sturdy 18–22 foot boats with modern sonar and GPS. Your captain will handle tackle, bait, and the plan, so you can focus on fishing. Dress in layers, pack sun protection, snacks, and a cooler for fillets if keeping fish is allowed. Trips suit families, beginners, and experienced anglers who want a steady, hands-on day.

Lake Champlain is long and varied, so patterns shift by area. The northern end, including Missisquoi Bay and the Inland Sea, offers classic spring and fall action. The central islands and channels hold fish around breaks and weedlines. The South Lake features warmer water and river influence that can spark strong trolling bites.

Before you go, check local rules for licenses, permits, seasons, and harvest. Lake Champlain spans Vermont and New York, and regulations can differ by side and zone. Your captain can explain general guidelines, but it’s your job to know and follow the current rules.

    Great Day

the Captain worked with us pertaining to weather and adjusting times to fit our schedule since we came up from PA. We had a great day and caught tons of fish. When salmon werent biting Captain quickly pivoted to Lake Trout and we caught plenty. Ended our time with drum and walleye ! Great day, great Captain and Mate and an overall great experience.

    Best Trip Ever!

We had an incredible time with Rob and his mate Jamie! Rob was Professional, hard-working, and knowledgeable about Lake Champlain and all types of fish. He worked nonstop, switching out the reels and getting us fish on! My boys caught Salmon, HUGE Lake Trout, and Walleye! Rob made the day educational, teaching the boys how to reel in lake fish successfully. We had an exceptional day and cant wait to book a spring Salmon trip next year!
