Hello, I'm Captain Steve Gutierrez, owner and operator of Deadliest Kast Fishing, a San Francisco Bay–based charter service specializing in hands-on, action-driven fishing experiences throughout Northern California waters. I hold a USCG 50-Ton OUPV Near Coastal Captain's License and have logged thousands of hours operating on the San Francisco Bay and surrounding coastal fisheries. I've been fishing Northern California waters since the age of five and have spent over a decade professionally running charter trips targeting some of our region's most sought-after species. Depending on the season, we target Halibut, Striped Bass, White Sturgeon, Rockfish, Lingcod, Salmon (season permitting), Tuna, and more. I specialize in South Bay fisheries and focus on adapting techniques and locations daily to give anglers the best opportunity for success. Deadliest Kast Fishing trips are designed for anglers of all experience levels — whether you're looking to learn new techniques, catch your personal best fish, or simply enjoy a great day on the water with family and friends. Many trips are filmed onboard and featured across Deadliest Kast Fishing social media and YouTube channels, allowing guests to relive their experience long after the trip ends. My mission is simple: provide a safe, professional, and productive fishing experience every time we leave the dock.

    Sturgeon trip

    White Sturgeon

    Finally made the move to take a trip with Deadliest Kast and Captain Steve. I’d been out trying to find a sturgeon on my own from shore in a few places but never hooked into one. He immediately put us on fish with a hookup in the first 10 mins. He gave us the info and tools we needed to make it happen. We ended up with three keepers (first for all three of us) with a 4th that got to the boat. I took a lot of great info with me to go along with the experience. The boat was nice and plenty comfortable for 4 of us on the trip… the gear all worked well and we had no issues with it. He was there when he said he would be and helped filet everything, plus gave us advice on cooking it. I had been thinking about booking with him for 2 or 3 years and even reached out awhile ago to ask about the price. I should have just pulled the trigger sooner. I can’t imagine every trip will go like this but the dude will absolutely put you on fish and you will learn from the experience if you’re looking for it. If you’re debating about booking a trip with him, my advice would be just pull the trigger and book it if you can get a spot. I’ll definitely be going for another one.

    Capt Steve was great! Having a deckhand no show made his job twice as hard but he crushed it. First drop we snagged two halibut and finished the half day with 3 more. Snagged 2 sharks that we let go. All in all great boat-and good vibes all the way around!

We had another amazing day of fishing for sturgeon in the San Francisco Bay. Our 3 customers hooked and landed 9 sturgeon of all sozes and got 2 keepers for the day.
