Captain Chase Camacho, born and raised in New York, learned to fish in the legendary Big Tuna grounds of Montauk, Long Island. After catching his first Yellowfin Tuna, he was hooked. Catching Yellowfin and Bluefin became an obsession with one Bluefin weighing 973 pounds. Being raised in Sheepshead Bay, New York, and working as a mate, Capt. Chase enjoyed learning his trade from some of the best charter boat captains in the business. Captain Chase has since been Tournament Director at Bimini Big Game Club, Bimini Sands & Hemingway Marina Havana Cuba.

We boarded his boat to be greeted with hot coffee, bagels, and gourmet sandwich sandwiches for a few hours later. Jean was our personal waitress the entire day. The boat was beautiful, well-maintained. Captain Chase was very knowledgeable and made us all feel at ease as a few of us were fighting some bad sea legs. Can’t wait to go again!

South Florida Offshore Fishing Report — August 10, 2026
The summer bite off Fort Lauderdale and Miami remains a mixed bag, with mahi, blackfin tuna and wahoo providing the better opportunities. Recent South Florida reports have shown wahoo along the reef and mahi offshore around productive weed patches and floating structure.
Wahoo: Still worth targeting. Recent reports have shown some very good wahoo fishing, including quality fish mixed with 20–30 pounders. Trolling remains the play.
Mahi: The summer mahi fishery remains productive, but finding the right weed patch is important. Once you locate one holding bait, there can be good numbers of dolphin around it.
Tuna: Blackfin tuna remain in the mix, particularly around the reef and deeper offshore structure. Recent Fort Lauderdale reports continue to include blackfins among the regular catches.
Sailfish: Scattered summer sails are still being encountered. They're certainly not at winter-season numbers, but there are enough around that a sailfish bite is very possible while targeting other offshore species.
Marlin: Blue and white marlin are the wildcard. This is the time of year when covering serious offshore water while targeting mahi and tuna can produce that unexpected billfish encounter.

August and September: Bimini’s Final Blu

The blue marlin season in Bimini may peak during June and July, but the action does not simply stop when August arrives. August and September represent the final push of the summer marlin season—and these closing weeks can still produce the fish of a lifetime.
Warm Gulf Stream water, strong current edges, floating debris, weed lines and concentrations of tuna and mahi-mahi can hold blue marlin within reach of Bimini. Summer is widely recognized as prime billfish season in these waters, with marlin occasionally encountered only a few miles offshore.
August generally offers the more consistent opportunity of the two months. By September, the bite becomes increasingly dependent on water conditions, bait and weather, but experienced crews know that a late-season blue marlin can appear at any moment.
This is not the time for casual trolling. It takes tournament-grade tackle, a professional crew, the right spread and the willingness to cover water. The reward may be an explosive strike, a screaming reel and hundreds of pounds of blue marlin launching into the air behind the boat.

South Florida Offshore Fishing Report – July 14, 2026
The blue water has been holding steady offshore, and fishing continues to produce opportunities for anglers willing to cover water and stay with the conditions.
Wahoo: Early morning high-speed trolling along the color changes and current edges has produced a handful of quality fish. The first few hours after sunrise continue to offer the best opportunity.
Sailfish: While not as plentiful as during the winter months, scattered sailfish are still being encountered along the Gulf Stream edge. Live bait and kite fishing remain your best bet when the current is favorable.
Mahi: Weed lines and floating debris continue to be the key. Smaller school fish are common, with larger bulls showing up around better-formed weed patches and floating structure. Be ready to leave a few fish behind and return later for the bigger fish.
Blackfin Tuna: The early morning bite has been the most productive, especially around deeper wrecks and offshore structure. Vertical jigs and live bait are both producing fish.
Blue & White Marlin: With warm blue water pushing close to shore, anglers spending time along the edge of the Gulf Stream continue to have legitimate shots at both blue and white marlin. Patience and covering quality water remain the keys.
As always, every day offshore is different. Water color, current, temperature breaks, and bait movement continue to dictate where the best action develops. Staying mobile and adapting to the conditions has been the recipe for success.
