I've been running charters for over 20 years. Settled down in Barra in 2020. We beach launch straight into the Indian Ocean, with productive ground close enough that you spend your day fishing rather than running for hours to an deep offshore spot.
The boat is a 6.3 m Cobra Cat on twin Yamaha F130s, rigged for five anglers with outriggers, a live bait well and the deck space to fight a fish properly. We work the reef systems in 20–60 m for couta, wahoo, kingfish and bottom species, and push wider for yellowfin, dorado, sailfish and marlin when conditions allow.
How we fish depends on the day. Live bait and drifting for couta and big kingfish, slow-pitch jigging over the pinnacles, poppers and stickbaits for GTs on the shallower reef, and conventional trolling for the pelagics. If you haven't fished slow-pitch before, come anyway — we carry the gear and we'll teach you on the water.
We like challenges, so light tackle is a specialty here rather than an afterthought. If you want to target a particular species on light gear, say so when you book and we'll rig for it.
We also own Barra Sun, our lodge on the beach at Barra, so fishing and accommodation can be handled as one booking — and our lodge guests walk to the boat. Transfers from other lodges in Barra are easy to arrange.
