Monsoon season towards its very end, we heading out North Male' Atoll for a 3/4 day Charter targeting GT's. Fishing is usually dicey with shift from Monsoon to Sunny Season. However we made a good catch of 9 medium sized GT's on popping. Great day for Stephan Wegnelius, who tirelessly fought with GT's. Had a great day.

Started the day with a pickup from Bandos Island Resort in North Male' Atoll. Weather seems calm and quite, not the best for fishing. However we got lucky with some good catch, considering our amateur angler who learned on Jigging and Popping for the first time. Quick learner i must say, he's really happy with his charter for a 3/4 day fishing trip with Mahuey 24.

Started off K. Maafushi Island, South Male' Atoll and headed 35 mins further south. Not much luck until we reached Vaavu Atoll. The first catch on popping was a shear fish about 4ft. Hence captain changed to Rappalla lures and got lucky with another 2 more Shear Fish. And couple more on popping with a Jack and a GT.

Early morning 7:00am from Vellassaru Resort, headed out 35-40 mins to North Male'Atoll with some friends from Malaysia. Mr. Benjamin Ong, has been waiting on this opportunity to aim on GT fishing in the Maldives. First catch of the day came from Benjamin's son Ben, first timers luck!, catching a 2ft Jack on Popping. Following with 3 small size GT's - 1 - 2 ft length weighting few Kg's, near Huvafenfushi outer channel. We were using Crystal Poppers about 4 -6" inch dark blue with red belly Lures. In the afternoon, winds had caught up and sea's were getting a bit rough with no big luck. To Benjamin's surprise, a last minute stop before reaching their hotel, we managed to get a big GT. Benjamin finally had the chance to a fight that fitted, which took about 10 - 12 mins to land it in. A good size GT weighing 10.27kg's. We were very happy with the day's catch and hope the clients had a great day too.

Started the trip around 7am from Male' capital with calm weather, almost flat water. Not the best conditions for popping considering guests aiming for GT. We went out 30-35 mins out towards North Male Atoll. Mostly used 6-8 inch Popping lures. Wasn't the biggest fight but quite a good one with the Jack and the Grouper. Nevertheless the guests enjoyed a good 1st day fishing. Hoping for a bigger catch tomorrow!
