Such a blessed day out in God's Country yesterday with two of my good friends Johnny and Billy! This was a scouting trip so it was all about exploring new areas targeting Redfish and Seatrout. We did real well as we caught about 20 Redfish. As expected, the trout were spread out but we managed to put 10 in the boat, and kept three. Not much current or wind for a drift so we moved around on the trolling motor out on the flats to find the Seatrout. We also sight fished a 50 to 60 lb Tarpon in 2 1/2 ft of water while hunting Redfish. Got four nice jumps out of him before his last violent head shake snapped the 30 lb leader like it was 5 lb leader?. Man that was a cool fish! Later on, Billy sight fished a Tripletail out on the flats as well. While we were Trout fishing, Billy also put out a few bigger live pinfish under a float for sharks. He got some exciting drag pulling off of that. Although he did have a lot of cut offs and half eaten baits, he still managed to get a few sharks to the boat on light tackle. All in all it was a great scouting day and another incredible adventure out in God's Country!!!
