It's a fishing first destination, meaning if you want to take the family for a first time experience your probably better suited to start close to shore near Isla Mujeres. If you want to put in the work and catch fish then Purto Morelos is the real deal

Double Trouble
Expect casting towards and into the mangroves. I am an experienced fisherman but found it difficult casting into the small holes and cuts in the mangroves. I would definitely recommend some sort of experience prior to booking.

The fish were there - the sargassum got in the way. This all depends on the current wind situation. Be patient, and remember fishing is fishing - not always catching.

water can be a tad choppier than in the east coast united states, and bring plenty of sunscreen! highly recommend sun or fishing shirts (light and airy)

The only downside is the seaweed. It's not anyone's fault & probably is a losing battle trying to contain it, but crews are scooping it up & it is fermenting, drawing flies & stinks horribly.
