RockenReel Sportfishing reporting 8 foot Mako Shark today- jumped over a half dozen times and snapped our 500lb test leader that had a 10 foot steel leader on it with a fat sharp hook.The crew went 14 miles out today and did not track down any Dorado or Yellowtail so far. Today's highlight so far is a small Mako Shark about 3 feet long- great eating and lots of good white meat. MAKO STEAKS LOOK AND TASTE JUST LIKE SWORDFISH. Captain Noah said he is going to take the clients to one of our spots to catch Bass and Barracuda before they go in. This spot is the point just a few minutes out of our small harbor.There were Big Yellowtail at the point only 150 yards off the beach two days ago. BOOYA

* pictures are froom a 12 foot Mako Shark we battled July 5th, 2026. Today they did not get any video. Im going to install a go- pro camera on our vessels this week to capture all the adrenaline pumping action.
