After a full day of rain, the weather cleared just in time for our charter with Williamson Flounder Gigging. We brought in 3 flounder along with mullet and sheepshead, and as a first‑time gigging trip, we were thankful for the experience.

Fun gigging trip
Capt Drew was great. Our family had fun on our 1st gigging trip. We didn’t catch many flounder but overall caught over 20 fish. We’ll definitely do this trip again.

So much fun!
We had a great time with Captain Trent! He was great with our 10 year old helping him and making sure he got some fish! Our teenagers enjoyed the trip also and we got so many fish!
Tutto sulla pesca Cefalo
Flathead Grey Mullet are hardy coastal fish that thrive in bays, estuaries, and nearshore waters. Anglers target them for steady action on light tackle, their quick bursts of speed, and clean, tasty fillets. Schools often cruise the edges of flats and structures, making Flathead Grey Mullet fishing a fun sight game for beginners and seasoned anglers alike.
You can catch them with simple, effective tactics. Use light spinning gear, small hooks, and subtle presentations. Bread, dough, or small bits of plant-based bait work well, as do tiny shrimp pieces. Float rigs help you keep baits in the strike zone. Fly fishing with small, weedlike patterns can also draw strikes. Chumming, which means scattering small bait to attract fish, can bring a school within range where allowed.
Expect a relaxed, hands-on experience close to shore. You will watch the water, make soft casts, and wait for gentle bites that turn into short, lively runs. This suits families, kids, and first-time anglers, yet still challenges pros who enjoy finesse fishing. Bring polarized sunglasses to spot fish, plenty of small hooks, light fluorocarbon leaders, and compact baits. Pack sun protection and a cooler with ice if you plan to keep fish, and follow your captain’s or guide’s advice on handling and release.
Regulations can vary by region and season. Before your trip, check local rules for licenses or permits, open seasons, and harvest limits. Review gear and bait restrictions, as some areas limit chumming or certain baits. When in doubt, ask your captain or local authorities so your Flathead Grey Mullet fishing stays safe, legal, and enjoyable.
