Pesca Pesca d'altura a Texas

Offshore fishing in Texas, United States puts you on the Gulf’s bluewater fast. The long coastline, nearby oil rigs, and reefs create rich habitat. That means steady action for first-timers and seasoned anglers alike.

You can target Red Snapper, King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, and Amberjack. Farther out, boats chase Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, and Yellowfin Tuna. Summer can also bring Sailfish, plus the chance at Blue or White Marlin on longer runs.

Most crews troll baits and lures for fast pelagics. They also bottom fish reefs, wrecks, and oil rigs for hard-fighting reef fish. Rigs hold bait fish, which draw in predators. Captains watch water color, current, and weedlines to find feeding fish.

Trips often run 20–60 miles offshore and last 6–12 hours. Seas can be choppy, but many boats have shade, seating, and helpful crews. Beginners are welcome, and the crew will explain each step. Bring sun protection, a hat, soft-soled shoes, and motion-sickness meds if needed. Ask your captain about keeping fish and onboard ice.

The Upper Coast around Galveston and Freeport offers quick access to nearshore rigs. The Middle Coast, from Matagorda and Port O’Connor to Port Aransas and Corpus Christi, mixes reefs, wrecks, and bluewater edges. The Lower Coast near Port Mansfield and South Padre Island offers warm currents and prime pelagic runs. Each area shines at different times and weather windows.

Before you go, check Texas license and permit rules for saltwater fishing. Review current seasons and harvest rules, including differences between state and federal waters. Your captain can explain what applies on the day, but anglers are responsible for staying compliant.

(4 Hour Trip — Jetty Fishing)

    AWESOME. TOTALLY INSANE

first time i have ever caught a tarpon, 36 inches, and it was the most amazing catch ever. we got into flounder, all not big enough to keep. we caught a few specks but only 1 keeper(fish tacos). and 1 big redfish that was a keeper. Captain Shannon is the best. its like going out with your best friend. he gets just as excited as you when your fighting tje big ones. If you want a great time and get on some good fish. get ahold of Captain Shannon at Galveston Offshore

    (12 Hour Trip)

    Great Trip!

Crew was very knowledgeable and worked with our group which included 3 teens and 2 adults with little to no offshore experience. Fished for multiple species using different methods of fishing. Great all round introduction to offshore fishing and a wonderful experience!

(5 Hour Trip — Jetty Fishing)

    Awesome experience

Captain Shannon is awesome. Five minutes after we stopped by the jetty we started catching fish every two or three minutes never went 10 minutes without catching fish. We brought 17 keepers back to the dock; Red-drum speckled trout and one sheep head. We will definitely use GalvestonOffshore again.

    Great experience!

We went offshore for the first time and Bobby was really helpful in teaching our son what to do and how to manage a shark when hooked. Really nice guy and gave great tips to a newbie!

    (5 Hour Trip (AM)-Out to 9 Miles)

    Always a Great Trip

I can't recommend Oilfield Outkasts enough. They go above and beyond and communication is great. I had many questions when we did our first trip and they are one of few that will respond and answer questions, which I think is important for offshore newbies like we were. It's not a question, book with them!!
