Hello, I'm Captain Pope, and I love the great outdoors! I was born and raised in South Louisiana, and I've been a passionate sportsman all my life. Whether duck and deer hunting in diverse locations, fishing along the entire Gulf Coast, or exploring the heart of Cajun country in the Atchafalaya Basin, I've experienced it all. My passion for the outdoors led me to start my own fishing guide business. Now, I get to do what I love daily and share my expertise with others.     Great Experience and Knowledgeable Captain

    Capt. Matt put us on fish even though it was a transitional period. Caught a variety of fish and discovered some fishing spots. Would highly recommend.

    Captain Matt at Delta Outfitters provided a wonderful trip all around. He put us on fish and kept us on them till dark. He was great with my son, keeping him entertained as well teaching him a little about fishing and the waters we fished. We will be going back!

    Outstanding trip

    Mixed group of teens, 40s and 70s…and everyone had a great time, caught some reds miscellaneous fish. Kept everyone engaged and tailored his attention to the skill and ability of each person. One of the better trips I’ve taken.

    Cold weather Trip! Had a blast

    Winter Morning Trip

    Decided to try our luck during the holidays and went on a trip mid week. Great experience with Matt and caught quite a few fish including my personal best Red! Highly recommend booking a trip!

Slow start

Started the morning in lagoons and ponds looking for reds and trout. With no luck we moved spots and got on a hot bite of small speckled trout and reds. Moved spots to some rocks on edge of a lake and started catching a couple sheephead but it was a slower day with 1 guy fishing. Made great memories and had a great time with fish still being caught.

Sheephead beat down

Started the morning fishing a 30ft hole for speckled trout. With no luck we moved to the mouth of a bayou that has a rock wall along it. We started catching sheephead one after another. Many small sheephead but ended up keeping 20 sheephead and 8 reds.

Had this great group of guys on the boat today and we caught and threw back 15+ bull reds in the storm. Caught enough redfish and drum to make a great fish fry back at the camp.

Redfish!

nov 5, 2023 • St Bernard
Started the day out in marsh strictly targeting redfish. First spot we stopped at the water was not moving the best for it. Ended up catch 4 black drum in that spot. Moved to the next spot. Started out slow for the first 15 mins then like a light switch the fish turned on. We caught plenty of small reds but mixed in was perfect 16inch-20inch redfish. Took about 45 minutes to catch our limit. After that it was all catch and release. Made another short run in hopes of finding some bullreds and we got on black drum and bull reds. Finished the day there catching our limit of black drum and having a great time catching and releasing bull reds.
