Incredible, knowledgeable, and patient guide - best fishing experience we've had.
We had an outstanding experience fishing Matagorda Bay with Captain Ashton this weekend. Our group included me and my three sons (ages 15, 16, and 8), and this was their first time fishing from a boat and using spinning reels. Captain Ashton was incredibly patient and took the time to make sure each of them felt comfortable and confident, which made a huge difference in their overall experience. As a father of five, I couldn't have asked for a better guide there. And despite windy and warmer conditions, Captain Ashton maintained a consistently positive attitude that really set the tone for the trip. His energy and encouragement kept everyone engaged and excited throughout the day. It was clear that he genuinely enjoys what he does, and that enthusiasm carried over to us. He was also extremely knowledgeable about the area and knew exactly where to take us. Thanks to his guidance, we had a very successful outing and caught plenty of trout and black drum for our family of 7 and still had leftovers the next day! Beyond his skills as a guide, Captain Ashton was personable, friendly, and easy to spend time with—something that really matters on a trip like this. He created an environment that was both relaxed and productive, which made it enjoyable for both the kids and me. I would highly recommend Captain Ashton to anyone considering a trip in Matagorda Bay, whether you’re experienced or brand new to fishing. He’s a great guy and a great guide who knows how to deliver a fun, success focused, and memorable experience for all ages.
