Islamorada heeft een vis met jouw naam erop, dus laat First Choice Charters je helpen hem te vangen! Met vele uren op deze getijden heeft schipper Larry ze van voor naar achter leren kennen.
Deze wateren staan bekend om Grote Barracuda, Grote Geelstaart, Batjauwvis, Goudmakreel, Koningsmakreel, Zeilvis, Zwaardvis, Wahoo, en meer – met een beetje geluk duurt het niet lang voordat je er een aan de haak hebt.
Afhankelijk van de soort die je wilt vangen, kun je jezelf bezig vinden met spinvissen, trollen, bodemvissen, of misschien iets meer gespecialiseerds in dit gebied. Schipper Larry kan je ook vissen met vlieger laten zien.
Alle vis binnen de wettelijke limiet mag je houden. Bovendien kun je je vangst laten schoonmaken. Dat noemen we waar voor je geld!
Families die graag samen vissen zullen blij zijn te weten dat kinderen welkom zijn aan boord! Als je geen reddingsvest in kindergrootte hebt, vraag dan zeker of er een aan boord is. Snacks zijn toegestaan aan boord — neem je favorieten mee om je energie tijdens de trip op peil te houden!
Je stapt aan boord van een 37' Sportvisboot met ruimte voor 6 passagiers. Hij heeft uitriggers, een drilstoel en alles wat je nodig hebt voor een productieve dag op het water. Er is een toilet aan boord voor je gemak.
Hengels, moulnets en tackle liggen klaar voor je, samen met kunstaas. Levend aas is beschikbaar, maar vraag de schipper of je het zelf moet vangen.
Je hebt de hulp van een eerste maat om je op de vis te zetten. Een fooi van 10–20% is gebruikelijk om je waardering voor hun harde werk te tonen.
Je visvergunning voor de dag is inbegrepen bij de charterboot, kom gewoon klaar voor een dag vissen! Houd er rekening mee dat sommige soorten speciale regels of beperkte seizoenen kunnen hebben. Je schipper helpt je de regels te volgen tijdens het vissen.
Vergeet niet gebotteld water, zonnebrand (geen spray) en een zonnebril mee te nemen. Als je andere dranken wilt meenemen, vraag het gewoon. Alcohol is toegestaan met mate, maar vermijd sterke drank en glazen flessen.

Every fisherman knows you can have one of those days but the crew were not going to have us coming back in empty handed. They kept us out longer than paid to make sure of that. We fished the Islamorada hump and got to try an electric reel to bottom fish. Ended up catching mahi mahi and Almaco Jack. Great experience for our first time fishing in the Keys. I would charter with this crew again!

Halve Dagtrip op januari 14, 2025 • 2 volwassenenGreat morning on the boat with Captain Larry and First Mate Frank. Both guys are very nice and know their fishing. I took the 4 hour offshore excursion and the time flew by. We caught some King Mackerel and a shark. I had a Wahoo on my line but it bit through the leader and got away. I would definitely use First Choice again. When it was over Captain Larry filleted my fish and I took it to Wahoos for lunch and they fried it up for my lunch! Delicious! Thanks guys.

With four teenage boys - our goal was to have a fun experience and catch mahi … and Captain Larry and his first mate made sure we did so! Two of the teens had never been deep sea fishing and happy to report all had fun and we brought home several mahi and even had fun reeling in a large barracuda. Captain Larry and his first mate were excellent on communication and helped us throughout the day. We had a great time - and had fresh mahi for dinner last night. Thank you.

Dagtrip op augustus 12, 2022 • 4 volwassenenOut the door by 630 for 7a departure on offshore fishing charter First Choice by Captain Larry out of Islamorada. On way out to deep sea 20-25 miles out we stopped near Alligator Reef so the first mate (Rick) could cast out for bait. We trolled on our way out to sea and caught a barracuda. Captain Larry spotted some birds congregating about 10 miles further and we found our first bit of Mahi Madness - our boat was hooking them as fast as we could put baited hooks in the water and also grabbed a few jacks and other smaller fish we threw back. Once it slowed down - Captain Larry found another hot spot near a floating plank he rightfully assumed meant bait fish and bigger fish were in the area. Another round of mahi madness ensued. First time my son and nephew got to try offshore fishing and they had a day they’ll never forget.

He set us up trolling for Mahi Mahi and tuna to keep a cool breeze flowing, and the strategy paid off big time: we reeled in tuna AND a huge Mahi Mahi despite everything the day threw at us. They went above and beyond from the planning stages all the way through to the final catch, making sure the kids were involved, safe, and having the time of their lives. My kids walked off that boat with a brand-new love for fishing, which is something I'll be grateful for forever. Captain Larry knows these waters like the back of his hand, and the local knowledge doesn't stop at the dock — he even told us exactly which restaurants would cook up our fresh catch for us afterward. Capt Larry and first mate Tom were wonderful to work with! Capt Larry let us know the weather wouldn’t be good for the initial day we had booked while staying in Islamorada. He was flexible for a later departure on a different day so we could drive in and go when the weather was better. FM Tom was patient and helpful teaching us how to use the equipment and the best method for the different fish. They had a method for attracting and catching the fish, which was interesting to learn. We had a great time and caught some beautiful fish! Some we kept and some were catch and release. (Yellowtail Snapper, Amberjack, Gag Grouper and Goliath Grouper) Thank you Capt Larry and First Mate Tom for a great experience and some yummy dinners!
