Blue Horizon Sportfishing 

We booked the entire Blue Horizon for a full-day trip for an 8-man bachelor party. From the beginning, Captain Matt, Brett, and Ian were the real deal. These guys knew what they were doing, worked their asses off all day, and made sure all eight of us had a great experience. Captain Matt absolutely put us on the fish. We ended the day with 26 yellowtail, ranging from roughly 2.5 to 4 feet long, with some pushing 30 pounds. On top of the yellowtail, we caught plenty of rockfish, sand bass, calico bass, bonito, skipjack tuna, a few bullet tuna, a barracuda, and a shark. Then there was Brett, who somehow doubled as the chef while helping us fish. The man will make you just about anything you want. We had breakfast burritos in the morning and burgers later in the day, and both were incredible. The burgers he turned out had no business being that good offshore. And then Ian handled the filleting. Watching Ian work through our pile of fish was a show in itself. The guy knows his way around a fillet knife and made quick work of everything we brought back. By the end of the trip, he had all of our fish cleaned, filleted, and ready for us to throw in a cooler and check for our flight home. These three guys were hands-on the entire day, hooking bait, showing us how to get the bait to run after casting, helping land fish, and making sure everyone was taken care of. They clearly know fishing, but just as importantly, they know how to run a great charter. We came to San Diego hoping for a memorable day of fishing, and Matt, Brett, and Ian delivered. For eight guys on a bachelor party, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you’re looking for a charter out of Oceanside, I wouldn’t hesitate to book Blue Horizon. We’ll be talking about this trip for a long time and booking again when in town.

Our family had an absolutely incredible time on the Blue Horizon Sportfishing Twilight Trip in Oceanside! From start to finish, this crew exceeded our expectations. Captain Jim was fantastic to work with while coordinating our trip and made everything easy and seamless. Captain Matt and Brett were phenomenal on the water. They knew exactly where to take us and put us on the fish all evening. We caught California Sheephead, Calico Bass, Sand Bass, and Sculpin, and they made sure everyone in our family had an unforgettable experience. Not only were they knowledgeable and hardworking, but they were also patient, fun, and genuinely invested in making this a fishing trip we’ll be talking about for years to come. And as if the fishing wasn’t enough, the burgers were absolutely delicious and the perfect treat after reeling in fish all evening! If you’re looking for an amazing sportfishing experience in Oceanside, we can’t recommend Captain Jim, Captain Matt, and Brett enough. Thank you for giving our family the fishing trip of a lifetime. I was impressed how we covered so many types of fish. We were fishing for Bonita 20 minutes in. During this time Brett cooked up some hamburgers and made some poke for us to try. While we were eating Matt our captain moved to a different spot where we started catching yellow tail. Matt was a great captain. Was constantly engaged finding a great spot. When we were fishing Matt, Brett. And Hudson were constantly helping us. Helping with bait, untangling lines, having poles ready at all times. I was particularly impressed how they helped some of the younger people in our group. They changed the setup and started catching sea bass, sheep head while the rest of us continued fishing for tuna. Hudson in particular was impressive. He was constantly keeping the ship clean from the fish being brought in. He never stopped.

This was our third trip with this group on the Blue Horizon, and every trip has been an incredible experience! The boys caught so many fish, including yellowtail, halibut, calico bass, and bonita. Some of the catches were absolutely huge! The crew is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and professional, making the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. They even filleted all of our fish right on the boat, so everyone went home with a great haul. The galley served delicious hamburgers, quesadillas, drinks, and snacks, which was a perfect bonus for a day of fishing. This has become a regular tradition for our group, and we'll definitely continue booking our trips with Blue Horizon. A huge thank you to Captain Jim, Captain Matt, and Captain Brett for another unforgettable day on the water!

We had a private event with 4 novice and 2 experienced anglers. The Captain (Matt) did a great job of starting by searching kelp beds 7-10 miles offshore for yellow tail. We snagged three, one very large, but only brought one home. The last our we stopped along the coast to catch Bass. The novices caught the most fish and we limited out quickly. Overall Great experience and highly recommend. Matt made a great breakfast and lunch and ensured all were taken care of during fishing. Even Matt helped us with fishing on shore so everyone was successful and caught plenty of fish. Thanks to all involved in making our trip a very memorable experience. p.s. We also caught a sand shark and other varieties we let loose. Also had a bird get tangled in our lines, but the crew freed very carefully and the bird was fine.
