Als je klaar bent om te gaan vissen in Chincoteague, boek dan een trip met Reed and Reel Fishing Company. Met vele uren ervaring op deze getijden kan schipper William je alles vertellen over de lokale visserij.

Deze wateren staan bekend om Redfish, Gevlekte Ombervis, Amerikaanse Bot, Gestreepte Zeebaars, Schaapskopbrasem, Trommelvis, Zwarte Zeebaars, Batjauwvis, Grijze Trekkervis en meer – met een beetje geluk kom je het zelf te weten! Afhankelijk van de soort die je wilt vangen, kun je jezelf terugvinden tijdens het spinvissen, popping, jiggen, bodemvissen, of misschien iets meer gespecialiseerds in dit gebied.

Kinderen zijn welkom, dus haal ze van het scherm en breng ze op het water! Kinderen moeten zwemvesten dragen, dus vraag na of de juiste maat aan boord beschikbaar is. Voel je vrij om je eigen snacks mee te nemen om op krachten te blijven tijdens je trip!

Je vismachine voor de dag is een 24' Carolina Skiff met ruimte voor 4 passagiers. Het schip is uitgerust met alle benodigdheden. Schipper William heeft hengels en molens voor je, samen met kunstaas. Levend aas is beschikbaar, maar je moet de schipper vragen of je het zelf gaat vangen.

Je visvergunning voor de dag wordt gedekt door de charter, dus het enige wat je hoeft te doen is uitkijken naar je trip! Houd er rekening mee dat sommige soorten speciale regels of beperkte seizoenen kunnen hebben. Je schipper helpt je de regelgeving te volgen tijdens het vissen.

Enkele essentiële zaken om mee te nemen zijn een zonnebril, zonnebrandcrème (geen spray), en flessenwater. Als je andere drankjes wilt meenemen, vraag het gerust. Alcohol is toegestaan in matige hoeveelheden, maar je moet sterke drank en glazen flessen vermijden. Er wordt flessenwater verstrekt.

first time fishing on the island

I wanted to book a trip with someone who knew alot about the island. Captain William has excellent knowledge of the history of the island and gave me great information about all the fishing available in the area. A true pleasure to spend a 4 hour trip with him.We caught alot of fish noting legal but if you’re a fisherman you know thats just how it goes some days. I have taken many charters and his trip was right up there with the best. Don’t miss out on this charter. I know I will be booking the next time I am in the area

Great time with Billy

We had 4h perfect hours of a family friendly fishing trip. Though our fishing skills were quite widely spread (absolut beginner to 35years of fishing-addiction) everyone had fun and more then one (small) catch. After 3 hours at a beautyfull spot in the Marshs we still had time to move on.
As Billy is Chincoteague born and bred he could he easily fullfilled our daughters wish and brought us close to some Ponys (Phoenix Wildfire was one of them), Dolphins and a bald Eagle sat close by to watch us pass. 
Wildlife never gives a guarantee to show up but with a little patience and a great guide like Billy there is a very good chance to see plenty. 
We are gratefull for this experience, thank you!

What a great time!

Capt Billy is a proud young man, having grown up in this area. He knows the water, the history and the ponies!  He was such a joy-he provided everything we needed and made sure we were all set for our wonderful 4 hour adventure. He had plenty of different kinds of poles so when we changed areas to fish we were using the right one. He provided us great narrative and history of this area (we have just moved to DE) and he took us to many different sites on the water. He also is personally involved with maintaining the ponies, a huge part of the culture and attraction to this area (his family has a long history and involvement in generations of the Chincoteague horses and fishing community). While we didn't catch the fish we wanted, it was not for a lack of trying.  We went ALL over the bay and then some trying different spots. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously on a sun soaked evening!  We'd highly recommend Capt Billy and Reed and Reel for your fishing and history and knowledge of this lovely area.

Only charter I’ll go on in Chincoteague

My family and I have done multiple charters in Chincoteague now, we’ve always caught fish and I considered that a win - but after going out with Billy I can say he is the best. His knowledge of the island is unmatched- many locals were yelling hello to him and asking where to fish that day. He is ambitious, personable, and fun to fish with. Plus he gave us so many island recommendations that were all great. 10/10

Fishing + Ponies with Capt Reed

2 Hour Trip –Sunset/Pony/Quick Fish op July 24, 2025

We loved our time out on the boat with Capt Reed! He was so kind to our kids yet so helpful with new skills for the adults. We even got to see some ponies up close while out with him- he knew so much about the ponies and island! We will definitely be going out with him again in our future summers on Chincoteague. Highly recommend for families and avid fisherman alike!
