    Excellent trip!!!!

Captain Brian was awesome, easy going and thoughtful. He put us on fish right away,. answered all my questions and was very patient with us. We caught lots of snapper for dinner ad some big gruper just for fun! I would highly recommend Captain Brian at Jays charters.

(4 Hour Reef and Wreck Trip)

    Wonderful family experience!

My wife, kids, and I recently went fishing with Captain Dez and First Mate Mike. The four of us had a blast and caught a lot of mangrove snapper, yellowtail snapper, and lane snapper. Both Dez and Mike were super helpful, wonderful with our kids, and were incredibly friendly and supportive throughout the whole morning. Dez cleaned our fish at the end of our trip, and we had it cooked for lunch that afternoon. Highly recommend them for a family trip.

Yellowtail Snapper fishing is all about steady action on light tackle. These colorful Reef fish fight hard for their size, taste great, and school up over structure. Anglers love them because the bite can be fast, the tactics are simple, and the fun is real for all ages.

Most trips focus on reef fishing and bottom fishing around natural reefs, wrecks, and hard bottom. Captains often anchor or drift and start chumming, which means adding small bits of bait to draw fish close. You will free-line small baits like squid, shrimp, or cut bait back in the chum slick. Use light spinning gear, small hooks, and thin leaders, because Yellowtail Snapper see well in clear water. Small jigs and flies can also work when fish rise to the surface.

Expect lots of bites and quick action once the school shows up. This is a great choice for beginners, kids, and anyone who wants a relaxed, hands-on day. Yellowtail Snapper are usually small to medium, so every angler gets a turn. Bring sun protection, polarized sunglasses, a hat, and non-slip shoes. Pack water and snacks. Many charters include bait and tackle, but confirm what is provided before you go.

Rules change by location, so check local fishing license and permit needs before your trip. Always review season dates, harvest limits, and size rules where you plan to fish. Keep only what you plan to eat fresh, and follow your captain’s guidance for responsible harvest.
