Far Out Fishing Charters has been putting the southern basin of Lake Michigan on the map; taking anglers out through the wetlands of our home port in New Buffalo Michigan's harbor for over a decade. Additionally, we are proud to offer trips from Washington Park Marina located in Michigan City, Indiana. Full access onboard our 31' Tiara vessel features twin 454 HP Crusader engines to put you on the fish when it counts.
You will be using all included top of the line equipment such as Fish Hawk and Garmin Electronics; Magnum Metalz downriggers; Shimano Telora and Tekota hardware; and Okuma rods and reels. To put it simply, you will be using what the pros use to fish tournaments up and down Michigan's Third Coast.
Expect to target a wide variety of species including Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Lake Trout, Steelhead Trout, Brown Trout, and Perch. Far Out Fishing is confident in our ability to locate these fish and fill coolers for whoever decides to hit the big lake with us. From the next generation being introduced to the sport, to the die-hard anglers braving the wet and cold with us targeting our early season migrators, we are proud to offer a 'no fish, no fee' guarantee.
Enjoy an easy-going time whether you're looking for a family trip, business outing, friends' trip, or fishing with us during tournament time. Don't forget to ask about our Catch and Cook program after your catch is processed at our cleaning facility for you. The first two hours was a no bite period. It could’ve been wrong lures, direction or depth. But the minute we turned to head back towards land the bite turned our direction. My sons and I were kept busy taking turns reeling in the bounty. In all we got twelve nice fish on board. Would book another charter with Captain James and son Tom the first chance I get. Tom was up to his elbows changing lures and helping land our bounty. The after docking Tom pulled out a big filet knife at the cleaning table and made quick work of the fish. On 8-8-26 I’m smoking a few trout and 3 families will be gathering for a feast, Of course THANKS to Captain James and son Tom.
We headed out early for our fishing charter. Captain James was in contact with us the day before so we knew what to expect and answer any questions. We arrived on time and after a brief safety lesson and introductions, we were off! We spent 5 hours catching fish, chatting and enjoying the lake. We caught coho salmon, king salmon, lake trout and steelhead trout and all four of us had plenty of opportunities to reel in the catch. Captain James and our first mate were helpful and excited for us with each catch. At the end, they arranged the fish, took photos, cleaned and packaged all the fish for us. It was a great memory-making trip and we would definitely book with them again!
So glad to hear everyone had such a great time and had a blast reeling in all those fish. Hope those sore arms were worth it!
Nice boat, exactly as advertised. Friendly captain and deckhand. Very knowledgeable. Took my 13 year-old daughter and they did great with a kiddo on the boat. We have chartered many times in different places and this was one of our best trips. Highly recommend.
Captain James and deckhand Tom was amazing with the kids. Got us on the fish. Told the kids exactly what they needed to do to land the fish. Kids all caught biggest fish the ever caught before.
We were glad to get you guys in on some action, and we're happy to hear everyone had a blast!
We had a great time with Capt. James and Co-Capt. Tom. The boat and equipment were in great condition. We were a group of four adults and 14 and 15 year-old boys. The swells were 1 to 2 foot, which may be a problem for people with weak stomachs, but we were fine. We would have no hesitation booking again with far out fishing!
Aaron, a very big thank you to everyone for being such a great and understanding group. Despite the mechanical issues and early hang up time, we were glad to hammer out a handful of fish in under an hour. We appreciate your patience and look forward to having you back out on your discounted trip to finish filling that box!
