I was born in Destin, Florida. A place that was centered around saltwater charter fishing. Some call Destin the worlds luckiest fishing village. I've been fishing this area since I was old enough to walk and I have always had a passion for this industry. I love teaching young people and beginners the ins and outs of fishing. Seeing them excited about the thing I'm so passionate about is what I love.

    Met the boat at 5:30 am at the dock. Trolled for a little bit as before we went out to bottom fish. Caught a few Spanish Mackerel and then went out around 10 miles. Deckhands were very good and were busy keeping 6-8 poles baited and fishing at all times. Captain was not afraid to move around if we weren't catching many fish at a certain spot. Boat was nice and had a bathroom and air conditioning inside the cabin area (It was very hot that morning). Had several keepers that the crew cleaned for us and had enough to feed our large family (13) at a local restaurant (AJ's) that fried and blackened them for us. Great trip!

    Group of 12 had an awesome time on the water! Lots of action and lots of fish in the boat!! Kids had a blast and ended the day catching a big ray and a shark! We will see yall next year!

    The crew was fantastic! interacted with our kids geeat and put us on the fish! This was a great trip and HIGHLY recommend this charter!!!

    We had an incredible time. The crew did a fantastic job setting up rigs for varying ages (12 years old up to 55 years old). We all caught so many fish and everyone had a great time. The first mate, Ian, was great with taking the fish off hooks for everyone and keeping us loaded up with fresh bait. Captian Taylor was great about moving us to different spots to keep the fish biting! Worth every penny!!

    Best of the 4-5 charters we have done in gulf area. Ian, first mate, was great with our group, keeping us baited and helping us get lots of fish in. Patient with the whole group even when we snagged ourselves up. Captain Taylor moved us around a bunch to make sure we got over the right spots. If we stopped and our first bites weren’t right, we moved along quickly which resulted in a great haul of good sized fish.

    Had rough seas which made it difficult for those without sea legs. First both Captain and Mate did a good job of going through safety and boat items. Once out, seas were rough but skipper found a good path to minimize impact. After doing some bait fishing, which was fun in itself, we found a few good spots to get red snapper. Ian the first mate did a great job organizing the tackle, rods and bait among the 4-5 people fishing at the same time. He kept everyone safely engaged in the rough seas. Among us we caught 10 good sized Red Snapper. Back on shore, First Mate did a great job getting everything cleaned up and ready to take away for an evening fish meal. It was a great time.

    Captain Waterfield and crew were amazing! I told them the trip I wanted, and boy did he deliver. Kept us on the fish all day, and his crew were so helpful with my three children. I would highly recommend this company and would definitely book again.

    Captain and First Mate were amazing. We got in the fish and killed it! Highly recommend Hound Dog Charters, Captain Taylor and Ivan, will definitely be coming back for another trip out.

Grey triggerfish open up March 1st

Grey triggerfish open back up for harvest on march 1. The trigger fish and vermillion snapper have been biting great along with red snapper and some other jack species. We have been theowing piles of triggers back the last month and are looking to bring some to the dock. Weather is good, calm most days and still pretty cool in the mornings. Great time of year to get on the water!

Fun afternoon fishing trip with a couple of old college friends. We fished a couple of Capt Matt's favorite spots and found some nice speckled trout! This crew will be back in July with their families. We can't wait to create more memories and send them home with some more fish for their freezer!
