Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report – Dorado and Wahoo – August 27, 2026 2 Dorado and 1 Wahoo for a Halifax Family August 27, 2026 A five-hour family fishing trip in Cabo produced a strong mixed-species result for Justin, Jordyn, Allan and Nancy from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Fishing aboard the 50-foot Viking Blue Ocean with Captain YoYo, the family finished their morning with 2 dorado and 1 wahoo. The charter concentrated on the Lighthouse and Los Arcos, two productive areas that allowed the crew to adjust their fishing presentation as they moved through the morning. A dredge was incorporated into the spread to create additional attraction behind the boat and help draw pelagic fish toward the trolling presentation. Dorado are known for fast runs, brilliant colors and their tendency to jump once hooked. Wahoo bring another level of raw speed, often striking a moving presentation aggressively before making a powerful initial run. For a family sharing one morning offshore, catching both species added variety without requiring a full-day charter. Captain YoYo and the crew used the dredge as part of the trolling presentation. Rather than presenting only individual lures or baits behind the Viking, the dredge helps create the appearance of a concentrated group of baitfish beneath the surface. Fishing Results at a Glance 2 dorado caught 1 wahoo caught 3 total game fish 2 productive fishing areas 5 hours of fishing Cabo Fishing Conditions Late August brought very warm water, with the recorded temperature around 87.6°F. Morning wind was relatively light at approximately 5–8 mph during the primary fishing period. The longer swell period was another useful part of the day's conditions. Although offshore seas were approximately 3–5 feet, the roughly 17-second swell period meant the waves were more widely spaced than short-period wind chop. Working both the Lighthouse and Los Arcos also gave the crew flexibility. Instead of spending the entire five-hour trip in one location, Captain YoYo could work different water while looking for bait, current changes and signs of active pelagic fish. The 50-foot Viking Blue Ocean also provided plenty of space for four family members to enjoy the morning together. During periods between strikes, everyone had room to relax while the crew continued working the trolling spread. By the end of the five-hour trip, the family had put two dorado and one wahoo aboard while fishing two different Cabo areas. The numbers tell only part of the story. Catching dorado and wahoo during the same morning meant experiencing two recognizable Cabo game fish with very different fighting characteristics. For this August 27 charter, warm water, light morning wind, a dredge presentation and the ability to work both the Lighthouse and Los Arcos combined to produce a memorable family fishing morning in Cabo San Lucas.

Cabo Fishing Report – August 9, 2026 – Sailfish Released 1 Sailfish Caught and Released Charter Date: August 9, 2026 Charter Length: 8 Hours Boat: Blue Ocean – 50' Viking Catch: 1 Sailfish Caught and Released August 9 delivered a memorable father-and-son fishing experience for Nicolas and his 12-year-old son Johan. Visiting Cabo from France, they headed offshore for an eight-hour private charter aboard the 50-foot Viking Blue Ocean. The warm August conditions eventually produced the opportunity they were looking for: a powerful sailfish that gave the pair an exciting encounter before being successfully released. Searching Offshore While Fishing Cabo in August Eight hours on the water gave the crew time to search beyond the areas immediately surrounding Cabo San Lucas and adjust the fishing strategy as the day developed. Summer conditions were warm, with ocean temperatures around 87°F. These tropical waters can support several highly sought-after offshore species, including sailfish, marlin, dorado and yellowfin tuna. For Nicolas and Johan, the defining moment arrived when the sailfish entered the action. Sailfish are known for their speed, athletic fights and unmistakable dorsal fin. Once hooked, the fish provided the kind of offshore battle that can quickly turn a family fishing trip into a lasting memory. After the fight, the sailfish was brought alongside and successfully released back into the Pacific. There is the anticipation before the strike, the sudden change in activity when the fish takes the presentation and then the challenge of completing the fight. Seeing a sailfish alongside the boat afterward gives a young angler an opportunity to appreciate one of the Pacific's impressive game fish at close range. Nicolas was able to share the entire experience with his son. That family element became as important as the fishing result itself. An eight-hour charter provides plenty of time together on the ocean, away from the normal distractions of a vacation ashore. The sailfish ultimately became the centerpiece of their day. A Memorable August Day of Fishing in Cabo Every offshore charter develops differently. Water conditions, bait movement and game-fish activity determine what opportunities appear during the hours available. On August 9, the result wasn't about producing a large number of fish. It was about one quality encounter. Nicolas and Johan experienced the excitement of hooking and fighting a sailfish, seeing it alongside the boat and then watching it return to the Pacific. For a father and his 12-year-old son visiting Cabo together, that successful sailfish release provided exactly the kind of fishing memory that can be talked about long after the vacation is over. Cabo Fishing Report – August 8, 2026 – 2 Tuna and 2 Wahoo 2 Yellowfin Tuna and 2 Wahoo Caught Charter Date: August 8, 2026 Charter Length: 6 Hours Boat: Blue Ocean – 50' Viking Captain: Yoyo Catch: 2 Yellowfin Tuna and 2 Wahoo August 8 produced an excellent combination of speed and power aboard the 50-foot Viking Blue Ocean. Edward, Kyler, Marcus, Yoshi and Brandon joined Captain Yoyo for a six-hour private offshore charter and finished the trip with four quality game fish. The final catch included two yellowfin tuna and two wahoo, giving the group two very different offshore fishing experiences during the same Cabo charter. Searching Productive Offshore Water Around Cabo A six-hour charter provides enough time to move offshore and search for productive water while still requiring the captain and crew to make efficient decisions. Captain Yoyo and the crew concentrated on locating activity and keeping the fishing presentation ready when opportunities developed. The yellowfin tuna delivered the strength associated with one of Cabo's most popular offshore species. Tuna are powerful swimmers, and once hooked they can produce sustained runs and demanding fights. The wahoo brought something completely different. Known for explosive strikes and exceptional speed, wahoo can turn a quiet trolling spread into immediate action. Catching two wahoo along with two yellowfin tuna gave the anglers a diverse day rather than a trip dominated by a single species. Yellowfin tuna rely heavily on strength and endurance. Wahoo are famous for speed and sudden acceleration. For Edward and the group, having both species involved kept the six-hour charter interesting from one encounter to the next. Conditions were warm during the August trip, with the original charter record reporting air temperatures around 90°F, water near 88°F and winds around 6 mph. Those conditions provided the setting, but finding fish still depended on locating productive offshore water and being prepared when opportunities appeared. Four Quality Fish on a Six-Hour Cabo Charter By the end of the trip, the group had put together a strong four-fish result. Two yellowfin tuna delivered the power. Two wahoo supplied the speed. For Edward, Kyler, Marcus, Yoshi and Brandon, August 8 became a memorable Cabo fishing experience built around variety rather than sheer numbers. A six-hour offshore charter aboard Blue Ocean ultimately produced exactly what many visiting anglers hope to encounter: multiple quality game fish and more than one species. Cabo Fishing Report – 1 Yellowfin Tuna Blue Sky Cabo Fishing Charter and Tours 50' Viking Blue Ocean – Cabo Fishing Report August 3, 2026 A family morning aboard the 50' Viking Blue Ocean turned into a successful yellowfin tuna trip during a six-hour charter from Cabo San Lucas. The Blue Ocean departed F Dock at 6:15 AM carrying six guests — two adults and four children — giving the group until 12:15 PM to travel offshore, search productive water and put their fishing time to work. The result was one yellowfin tuna. Cabo Family Fishing Aboard the Blue Ocean This charter was as much about introducing younger guests to offshore fishing as it was about the final catch. With four children aboard, the 50' Viking provided substantial space for the family throughout the six-hour trip. The Blue Ocean is also equipped with Starlink for offshore connectivity when service is available. August is an important part of Cabo's yellowfin tuna season. Warm offshore water can bring tuna into the region, but simply being on the water during the right month does not mean the fish will be easy to locate. The crew still has to search. Cabo Report From August 3, 2026 Charter Statistics Date: August 3, 2026 | Boat: 50' Viking Blue Ocean | Guests: 6 Charter: 6 Hours | Departure: 6:15 AM | Return: 12:15 PM Adults: 2 | Children: 4 | Catch: 1 Yellowfin Tuna Equipment: Dredge | Departure Dock: F Dock | Marina: Cabo San Lucas Yellowfin tuna are highly mobile predators. Rather than remaining permanently around one fishing location, they can follow bait, currents and favorable water over considerable distances. That means the crew must continually evaluate what is happening around the boat. Birds diving toward the surface can indicate feeding activity below. Dolphins can sometimes be associated with tuna schools. Current edges, temperature changes, bait concentrations and visible surface activity can all provide additional clues. Finding one productive situation can change an entire fishing morning. Fishing Report Strategy for Yellowfin Tuna The Blue Ocean carried Blue Sky Cabo's dredge system during this charter, adding another tool to the crew's fishing program. Depending on conditions, Cabo tuna techniques can also include trolling, live bait, casting, cedar plugs and specialized kite presentations. The correct approach depends on where the fish are located and how they are behaving that particular day. For families, a six-hour charter offers an interesting balance. It provides more fishing time than a short introductory trip while remaining manageable for younger anglers spending a morning offshore. This trip demonstrated why the final catch number should always be viewed together with the fishing story. Six family members headed offshore aboard the Blue Ocean. The crew searched the available water, worked through the morning and created the opportunity needed to put a yellowfin tuna aboard. Cabo Fishing With the Next Generation Taking children fishing can turn a Cabo vacation activity into something they remember long after returning home. The excitement begins before a fish ever reaches the boat — leaving the marina early, watching the coastline disappear, seeing the crew prepare the tackle and waiting for the first strike. When that strike comes from a yellowfin tuna, the experience changes quickly. Tuna are powerful fish known for sustained runs and determined fights. Landing one provides younger anglers with a close-up look at one of Cabo's important offshore species. Blue Sky Cabo operates private fishing charters aboard vessels from 32 to 60 feet. Fishing licenses, live bait and fishing equipment are included on charters, helping families arrive ready for the day. One yellowfin tuna completed this six-hour August family charter aboard the 50' Viking Blue Ocean. Cabo Fishing Report – July 30, 2026 – Striped Marlin Released 1 Striped Marlin Caught and Released Charter Date: July 30, 2026 | Charter Length: 5 Hours Listed Time: 8:00 AM* | Trip: Afternoon Charter Boat: Blue Ocean – 50' Viking | Catch: 1 Striped Marlin Result: Striped Marlin Released | Dredge: Used Anglers: Mario, Erick, Julio, Uli, Travis, Alejandro and Ben | Home City: El Paso *The source page lists 8:00 AM while describing the trip as an afternoon charter, so both source details are preserved rather than assuming a different departure time. July 30 produced a successful billfish encounter for Mario, Erick, Julio, Uli, Travis, Alejandro and Ben aboard the 50-foot Viking Blue Ocean. Their five-hour private charter was highlighted by one striped marlin that was successfully caught and released. For a shorter offshore trip, a marlin encounter can quickly become the defining moment of the entire charter. Dredge Fishing and the Offshore Search Around Cabo The crew worked productive offshore water with a dredge incorporated into the trolling presentation. A dredge is an attraction device designed to imitate a concentrated school of baitfish beneath the surface. It is not itself the hooked bait. Instead, its purpose is to create additional visual activity below the trolling spread and attract predatory fish toward the presentation. That strategy contributed to the opportunity the group was looking for. A striped marlin entered the action, turning the offshore search into a full billfish encounter. Striped marlin combine speed, size and endurance with the spectacular surface activity that makes billfish encounters so memorable. During a fight, a marlin can change direction quickly, make powerful runs and sometimes leap completely clear of the water. Billfish require coordination between the angler, captain and crew. Maintaining appropriate pressure while maneuvering the boat and preparing for the fish alongside becomes an important part of successfully completing the encounter. The group ultimately brought the striped marlin alongside and completed a successful release. Releasing the fish in good condition allowed the anglers to complete the experience while returning the marlin to the Pacific. One Fish Defines a Five-Hour Charter This July 30 trip illustrates why catch totals alone never tell the entire story of an offshore fishing day. The final number was one game fish. But that fish was a striped marlin. For Mario, Erick, Julio, Uli, Travis, Alejandro and Ben, their five hours aboard Blue Ocean delivered the opportunity to experience the speed, power and excitement of a Cabo billfish encounter. One striped marlin caught and released became the defining result of their day on the Pacific.
