Winter bay fishing in Destin, FL

We had a successful day of fishing today. We decided to target mangrove snapper as well as bull reds and got into them pretty good. All in all, a great day of fishing!

The temps are red hot and so is the fishing! We are still getting into speckled trout, redfish, mangrove snapper, spanish mackerel, bluefish, flounder, and a few other bay species. Spring is upon us and the fish know it. We are still catching redfish and speckled trout in the back bays, but we are also starting to catch sheepshead, black drum, and pompano around the East Pass. Around the pass we are using carolina rigs with live shrimp and in the back bays we are using a lot of popping corks (Send it! Popping Corks) with either live shrimp or small fin baits underneath. As the temps increase, the fishing should just continue to get better and better...Destin inshore fishing at its best!
