7/18/26 and 7/19/26 Again this weekend, not the best wind conditions for the place we wanted to go and catch GIANTS. Therefore we went back to Kelly’s Island where we had caught our limits last Saturday. We ended up in shallower water today, but with the same results. Still running the same Flicker Minnow program as the last month. If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!! Fish were puking up what appeared to be many 2” shad. Nice to see our southern friends from the Houston area get to experience fishing on “the walleye capital of the world”! Enjoy the fish fry Mike and Jose!! Trip #2 was with Brandon, Tiffany and her son Landon. What a pleasure it was to fish with them as well! Congrats to the young man on finishing up his first Lake Erie trip with a nice 26” walleye!!

For our second trip of the day, I met up with Brandon, Joe, Joey, and Carter and launched out of Sheffield. After about 30 minutes of running, we found some nice marks on sonar in 50 feet of water. As soon as the lines went in, it was game on! We had an incredible day, ending with a cooler full of 30 walleye, including several giants. The guys were all smiles chasing big girls all afternoon. I’m not so sure about Carter… ladies, from the pics I think he found himself a cutie! ???? To top it all off, we finished the day with a true monster that taped out well over the 31.5-inch “Judge” ruler, pushing right around 32 inches. It crushed a black-headed Wonder Bread #9 Flicker Minnow from Hammertime Lures. Flicker Minnows were absolutely on fire today, running anywhere from 40 to 90 feet back with up to three-ounce snap weights set at 30 feet. What a day, boys!

The winds were stiff, but that didn’t scare this crew off!! Cousins Cohen and Owen were tough and caught on quick. They were handling the rods like pros, taking planer boards off and throwing fish in the well!! After catching a couple fish off Marblehead we hit a dry spell. We decided to go back to our spot and hammered out 18 fish by 11:30. Cohen caught his very first Lake Erie walleye today! He also took our big fish of 26+ inches!? Cousin Owen was a close 2nd! His fish was shorter but a bit beefier. Bandits 25’ - 50’ caught all of our fish with exception to a couple on #9 Flicker Minnows. Thanks to Dad / Uncle Jimmy as well for your help today and for bringing these guys out!! Good Times!! Enjoy the Fish Fry!!

Thursday morning I had the pleasure of taking Dondi and his son Joshua fishing on Lake Erie. What a beautiful April day on the lake! We set out in the Team North River boat and began to mark fish in about 44’ of water N of Lorain. We started setting lines and it was Game On!! The Offshore Planer Boards were shooting back left and right with fish all the way to Beaver Creek. We threw back countless fish and kept a nice cooler full with 3 Limits. Many fish were 5+ lbs, with the biggest going just over 8 at 29 1/4” Bandits weighted down with 2oz at 50’ back and a total of 80-130’ of line out took our fish. Color didn’t seem to matter. Trips available for 1-3 persons for next weekend yet.

Started out Friday morning with Andy taking his new P. B. Walleye, the first fish of the day going 29 1/4 inches and 8.0 pounds!! As soon as we called out the right looking fish coming across the live scope screen, the planer board raced backward! We stayed on a small pod of fish on the east side of the camp Perry firing range, catching mostly 5+ pound walleyes. Bandits ruled the day at 30’ to 60’ foot back. Color didn’t seem to matter. The 2 of us Caught approximately 20 fish +/- a couple, throwing back the larger females. Sunday was more of the same fish and same program, just in another spot. I have the 23rd and 24th of this month available yet.

Fishing ESE of Kellys Island on Thursday and boated a dozen or more fish in short order fishing solo. Nice grade of fish with most all 4-7lbs. Caught on Bandits 20-25’ down in the water column. A custom bandit by Hammertime Lures took the 3 biggest fish at 120’ back. (Blue Chrome with Orange and Chartruese spots) All were released to be caught another day. Some real trophies were caught near the Camp Perry Firing Range this past week. Many fish were caught over 10lbs, with one over 13lbs! If you are interested in catching a trophy, now is the time!! Have it mounted or turn it loose and get a reproduction mount. The reproductions at the Ohio Musky show by LAX were absoutely stunning!
