Its heating up!

This time of year always seems to be inconsistent with the weather pattern. So far it’s been fairly nice this fall season. Nearshore trips are pretty popular for it’s usually calm enough to fish them and there is massive amounts of bait moving thru near coastal this time of year. Sharks, snook, redfish are some of the top three bigger fish we see but the smaller rods and trolling techniques often work well for whiting, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, black drum, flounder and pompano mixed in as well. As for offshore if the weather lets us get out usually the reef if lively making for good action and some tasty table fair. Keeping it closer fishing the 80’ reef we see a good bite of triggerfish, mangrove snapper, lane snapper, vermillion snapper, mutton snapper, grunts and of coarse red snapper. Most of these fish are on the smaller side this time of year but we do see the occasional cobia and kingfish as well. If we push out deeper the same type of fishing will apply targeting triggerfish, large vermilion snapper, and red porgy with the chance as a grouper and amberjack as well.

This second half of February has been some of the best shark fishinh ive seen in a while. Lot of high winds and rough seas have jept us from going offshore and on thw calmer days its been a grind offshore to catch much. But the nearshore fishing has been very good to make up for it. The large blacktip and spinner sharks are migrating thru right now And some days were losing count on how many hook ups we have. Coming into march we should start seeing cobia show up along the coast too. the best Cobia fishing is just being there the day they show up. They come and go very fast anymore. Hooing to see some nice weather for march so we can get back offshore steady and bring in some awesome catches

February fishing is as unpredictable as is comes. The nearshore bite tends to be the most active and the most achievable due to multiple cold fronts that push thru this time of year. We tend to have a lot of variety of bait fish that move thru just off the beaches that attract several species of sharks, redfish, Spanish mackerel, blue fish and pompano. But with the weather always changing it makes every trip a different day. Some days we will be fishing inside the port as the cold fronts tend to push push into the deeper waters. The light tackle rods are usually very active this time of year which are great for young kids to play with while the big baits can soak in hopes of something big.
