Wences Team - Champagne II 

My 12 year-old son is an avid fisherman. He has been longing to catch a sailfish for quite some time. After reading several reviews, I decided on this boat and crew. And let me tell all of you readers that this decision was a great one. We were greeted by the captain in the parking lot. He directed us to coffee and some sandwiches - he provided water, soda, and Corona. Ten minutes out we caught our first fish - a smaller Bonita that Julio sliced up later making a fantastic Sashimi dish. We then chased some tuna, saw a whale and a sea turtle, and then continued on our quest. About an hour later my son and his friend took turns reeling in a beautiful 8 foot Sailfush. It was right out of a movie. A couple hours after that we caught another 7 foot Sailfish. They are such majestic creatures that we decided to release this one, which Julio did with skill and precision. At that point the kids were pretty beat so we decided to head back. Julio then cut us up some nice filets which we will cook tonight. It was a fantastic memorable journey that we will never forget. Thank you Raymondo and Julio - we will never forget this trip. Wences was very friendly and contacted us a few days beforehand to arrange the meeting point. The boat was clean, and the equipment was adequate, though not high-end reels or rods. His crew member was very attentive and focused on everything. We had a slow day, but on our way back to the harbor, we caught a large sailfish. I definitely recommend this crew and will book with them again!

Great Captain and Deck hand, very well experienced, changing baits and tactics constantly to have better possibilities of landing a quality catch. Wil definitely book a trip with them again in the near future. 👍🏼🤙🏼

18 January 2022 Yesterday was another magical day aboard Raymundo Wences' legendary "Champayne II". We departed Zihuatanejo Pier promptly at 6:30 a. m. with Raymundo himself at the helm and first mate Victor, tirelessly preparing the gear and tackle. The boat was spotlessly clean and everything in perfect working condition. After a short cruise out to sea I landed my first fish of two at 8:32 a. m., a 90 inch Pacific Sailfish, and she was real fighter. My dear friend Eddie McCullar was with me and it was now his turn in the fighting chair. An hour or so later Eddie landed a 60 inch Mahi Mahi after an intense battle. Now it was my turn again. At 10:30 a. m. I had another 48 inch Mahi Mahi on the line and landed it without incident. Eddie was then back in the chair again and after a short lull he hooked into another monster Mahi Mahi. After an intense battle the 50 lb. test line snapped and this Mahi Mahi gave one last leap out of the water as if to say goodbye. First mate, Victor, prepared us a "ceviche dish", it was incredibly tasty and beautiful as well, we nibbled on it all the way back to Zihuatanejo Pier. It was our second trip aboard the "Champayne II", our previous trip was in January 2020 which yielded two large Pacific Sailfish, one of which hangs on my wall. We had a great time. Raymundo, gave us any details we needed before hand quickly and efficiently. The boat is in good shape and the mechanical side of things were strong. Both the Captain and Mate were very experienced and handled the boat and fishing equipment professionally. My son (12 years old) was seasick and they made sure he was comfortable and still part of the action. We caught 3 Dorado and a Sailfish, it was a great experience!!!!

Awesome boat, great crew, very professional. Delicious sandwiches for sale right by the pier. Had a great time and caught fish 🤙

Captain and First Mate Antonio were excellent. Fished hard and even managed to save a sea turtle ensnared in illegal fishing garbage in the process. Good people here!

We only got 2 Bonita and no keepable fish but Daniel, the first mate, worked so hard to try to catch more.
