Second Wind Charters 

We just wrapped up an absolutely incredible fishing trip with Second Wind Charters, and I can honestly say Captain Kevin exceeded every expectation we had. From the moment we stepped on the boat, it was obvious we were in the hands of someone who truly knows the water and takes pride in giving his customers an unforgettable experience. Captain Kevin was an absolute rock star the entire trip. His knowledge of the local waters around Edisto is second to none, and it seemed like every move he made put us right where the fish were. We weren’t just riding around hoping for luck—he consistently had us on fish and kept the action going. Beyond his skill as a captain and fisherman, what really stood out was how hard he worked to make sure everyone had a great time. He was patient, professional, easygoing, and made the entire trip feel effortless and fun. What impressed me most was how smooth and organized everything was. The equipment was top-notch, the boat was clean and comfortable, and Captain Kevin handled every detail so we could simply relax, fish, and enjoy the day. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does, and that passion makes all the difference. Prior to our shark fishing trip Captain Kevin reached out to answer any questions I may have had along with giving a few suggestions of things to bring along (sunscreen (lotion), lots of water, snacks). It was extremely hot on the day of our trip but it was not unbearable on the boat, luckily there was a slight breeze and various parts of the boat provided shade. There is plenty of seating if you choose to place your rod in one of the multiple rod holders around the boat or if you prefer to take a break and watch others fish. Within about 15-20 minutes from leaving the dock we anchored offshore and had lines in the water shortly after. One of the kids in our group got a bite within 15 minutes (a small bonnet head) and after that we all began getting bites. We stayed at that spot for the majority of our trip (caught multiple small whiting, Atlantic Sharpnose sharks, a couple of bonnetheads, a decent size hammerhead, a stingray and even a croaker). I found it very impressive that Captain Kevin was able to take us to a spot and we had action all around at the very first spot he stopped. He was extremely attentive of making sure we all kept bait on our hooks, stayed hydrated (he even had water for us) and was sure to make sure I got the photos I wanted. We tried one last stop before the end of our trip but weren’t having much luck and offered to try another spot even though we were nearing our end time but we declined because we were all exhausted! The boat was very nice and clean. We decided to keep 1 of the Atlantic sharpnose sharks to cook and Captain Kevin cleaned it for us and placed it in a bag with ice to keep it fresh until we could get it back to the house, he also gave us suggestions on brining and cooking the shark since none of us had ever tried it. I am so glad we chose to book with second wind and will definitely be booking again on our next trip to Edisto, we are thinking possibly the nearshore trip this time!

We had an absolutely phenomenal time on this charter! From start to finish, the trip was enjoyable and well-organized. The captain was amazing, knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure everyone was comfortable and having fun. The atmosphere was relaxed yet exciting, and we couldn’t have asked for a better day on the water. We took all the fish home and had a fish fry later that night that was amazing! Highly recommend this charter if you’re looking for a memorable fishing experience!

Captain Kevin did a great job of educating us on the boat and safety rules. My family had such great experience. He took them to where the fish were biting. We came home with more than enough filleted fish to feed our large group (19 people) We booked the 6 hour off shore/near shore trip and it was the perfect length of time for our family ages 10-43. Our group all had fishing experience but not saltwater fishing. Memories made!!

Our group had a great morning out fishing with Captain Kevin. We caught a variety of fish including a cobia, some black bass and some nice size sharks. Kevin is very knowledgeable about the fish and where the fish would be at. He put us right on the fish and we started getting bites with in minutes of our hooks being in the water. We had a very memorable and fun experience and will definitely be doing this again!
