Salty Team Fishing Charter 

Booked a half day with Yoan and his crew and it was simply amazing. The morning bite was a bit slow but it did not last very long. We caught 2 skipjack tuna shortly after sunrise and a few hours later the action skyrocketed! Chasing tuna and dorado from buoys to groups of baitfish the Captain Joe made sure something would take the line. We caught 2 lovely yellowfin tuna and 1 big bull Dorado! This was my first deep sea fishing experience in a long time and the Salty Crew delivered! If you want to get your best chance at catching game fish, look no further, Yoans Salty Crew are the way to go.

From start to finish Captain Yoan was great, started with a really early pickup by Yoan from my hotel down to the beach and the boat. Introduced to Joe the captain for the day and his mate and started the trip in the dark heading a couple of miles out to pick up live bait. After that we tried various spots trolling with lures and live bait. Unfortunately at this time of the season the tuna are a bit more sparse, this didn’t deter the team and they tried a few spots further out and keeping an eye out for birds feeding on baitfish, one of these was successful and managed a nice skipjack tuna, small but really strong fighter. After some time Joe decided to try closer inshore (a couple of miles out) and his knowledge and experience paid off. We hit a group of Mahi Mahi and within minutes had fish on. Hectic pace with fish on 3 rods at once but the crew kept pretty calm and over the next 50 minutes or so I was able to land 3 beautiful fighting Dorado. To be fair I hadn’t expected it to be that tiring but afterwards my arms ached from the fight. Once we had landed the fish it went very quite and as time was nearly up headed to shore where Captain Yoan was waiting, The team is very knowledgeable, friendly and determined that every guest gets a chance to catch fish even when it doesn’t look promising so I would recommend them 100%, as a first time trying this sport it was brilliant, there are quite bits but when you get a fish it really makes the wait worthwhile, hope that I can return to this beautiful country in the future and will definitely be booking again with Salty team when I return.

after a very early morning departure from the beach in Trois au biche straight to the FAD to catch baitfish (small mackerel which saved our day) First tried to hook Tuna or whatever bites on the life bait around the FAD Being told not going to be the best day we would have to go for different tactics After FAD we went out for miles to look for the birds which were not really around We had a few Wahoo bites even lost a Rapala which we were able to retrieve Different trolling techniques disnt result in a catch Joe and his mate were really trying hard to find the big tunas by spotting diving birds But they were not around. They kept the bait dish pretty good alive along the search for Tuna. The aim is going for the large ones which not always work out. And if it doesn’t they always return to the FAD and try to catch smaller Tuna, Mahi Mahi or whatever bites. During the trip they not only watch for birds but also they have a sharp eye for floating debris And so we were lucky on our way to the FAD picking up aome serious piece of abandoned stuff which looked like fishing nets and/or ropes Usually guarantee for Mahi Mahi ans so it worked out today as well They stayed a bit away from it else other predator fish like Wahoo were taking our life baits and usually you loose them as they bite the line So after we started to circel around tje fishing became catching! we got a few good Dorado bulls a few smaller Dorado, few Rainbow runners, few lost as well Wahoo off course but also a white tip shark came along. A very exciting trip and they really do there utmost to let you catch As there was no afternoon session i was lucky to have an extended trip Those guys are locals professionals and like fishing to much themselves as well So definitely will be back but bringing my kids the next time. An early start at before 5am promised well and we went out to 8 miles offshore to catch live bait and prepare for the day ahead. We started to drift live bait for tuna but there was no action and for the rest of the trip, Joe and Timothée scoured the ocean for action but it seemed fated not to happen - flat calm seas were not conducive to fish activity that day. However, the team was determined not to disappoint and so we kept going beyond my allotted time, and within sight of shore, all hell broke loose! At the buoy marking 2 miles to shore, we found another large flock of birds and out went the live bait again. Quickly the first rod bent as a dorado was hooked, followed by two more one after the other, each fighting hard and jumping - spectacular. Two more were lost before a fourth dorado took the bait, and fought like a demon - yet was the smallest of the them all! The previous hours of inactivity were forgotten and we kept searching for another fish but finally pulled in the lines and headed for shore. Lesson learned: deep sea fishing is unpredictable but Salty Team went above and beyond to ensure I left with a great experience and fantastic memory of a day on the Indian Ocean - I thoroughly recommend

Un’esperienza semplicemente indimenticabile. La gita di pesca in barca notturna a Mauritius è stata molto più di una semplice uscita in mare: è stata un’avventura autentica, emozionante e ricca di adrenalina. Salpare di notte con l’oceano che si tinge di colori intensi e il cielo stellato sopra di noi, crea un’atmosfera magica che ti accompagna per tutta la notte. L’equipaggio si è dimostrato estremamente professionale, preparato e appassionato, sempre attento alla sicurezza ma anche pronto a condividere consigli e curiosità sulla pesca ai tonni e sulle tecniche utilizzate. L’attesa, il silenzio del mare aperto e la tensione delle prime abboccate rendono ogni momento speciale. Il punto culminante dell’esperienza è stato senza dubbio la pesca di un magnifico marlin: un combattimento intenso, emozionante e rispettoso dell’animale, che ci ha regalato una scarica di adrenalina pura. Vedere un pesce così imponente emergere dalle acque dell’Oceano Indiano è qualcosa che difficilmente si può descrivere a parole. Consiglio questa gita a chi ama il mare, la pesca sportiva e le esperienze autentiche. Un’avventura unica, che resterà per sempre tra i ricordi più belli del viaggio a Mauritius. 🌊🎣
