I've fished Lake Ontario professionally as a first mate and/or Captain for the last 16 years with over 3,000 trips in that timespan. Our lake season begins in early April and concludes in mid-September.
These waters are known for Trophy Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout (Steelhead), and Lake Trout. Let's fill your cooler!
Full day trips begin at 6AM and end with either a limit or 2PM whichever comes first. Times are dock to dock. Half day and afternoon trips are available as well.
Trips with Synergy Sportfishing are child-friendly, so feel free to make a family day out of it! Life vest are required for children 12 years old and younger. Customers are encouraged to bring snacks so that everyone stays happy and energized!
Capt. Nick welcomes you aboard the 40' Jersey Dawn 'Synergy' with space for up to 6 passengers. There's a salon and couch to keep you out of inclement weather and a toilet on board for your convenience. In addition the cabin offers AC.
Your captain will provide all tackle: rods, reels, etc.
A first mate will be there to assist the captain in landing your catch of a lifetime!
You will need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or, feel free to ask Captain Nick.
Don't leave home without sunblock (non-spray), a hat, drinks, sunglasses, and cooler to transport your catch home. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. We have a zero tolerance policy as it pertains to drugs.

Afternoon trip

A few friends and I went out with Captain Nick and Dex and had a great time!
The boat was nice and comfortable! We brought our own snacks and drinks and they did the rest! It didn't hurt that the weather was perfect and it was basically a flat calm lake!
Captain Nick kept us catching fish and Dex was really helpful when we were reeling in the fish explaining exactly what to do to get those fish in the boat!
I would absolutely recommend Synergy Sportfishing to anyone who wants to go fishing on Lake Ontario!
I will be booking another trip - but this time I will book a full day trip!

Awesome time with Nick and Dex

I had an incredible experience this weekend on a fishing charter out of Olcott, NY, and I can’t recommend it enough. From the moment we walked up to the boat I knew a good time would be had as Nick and Dex made our group of 6 feel welcome and confident we were in for a great day.
The boat was clean, and equipped with top-of-the-line gear. The captain (Nick) and first mate (Dex) were not only highly experienced but also super friendly and informative. They were happy to share tips on technique and gave us a real hands-on experience, whether it was setting lines, learning about trolling patterns, changes in the lake conditions or landing fish.
What stood out most was the crew’s dedication to making sure everyone onboard had a great time, regardless of experience level. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a complete beginner, they make sure you’re comfortable and part of the action. Watching Nick and Dex communicate with each other on the fly for all things from what’s working and what should be changed, to making sure lines aren’t crossed when reeling fish in, made the experience all the better. By the end of the trip, we had a cooler full of filleted fish and memories to last a lifetime.
If you’re considering a fishing trip on Lake Ontario, Synergy Sportfishing is the way to go!

Had a blast - book with Synergy and Captain Nick - now!

My wife and I book a morning, half day trip with Synergy Sportfishing and we had a great time! We heard that Synergy was one of the best charters on Lake Ontario - friendly, entertaining and they know how to catch fish!
There were six of us on the trip and we call caught fish! You can see the pictures of the fish caught by myself and my wife. While the weather was not on our side, Captain Nick and his first mate found the fish and had the right bait at the right time! Did I mention that everyone on our trip caught fish?
The boat is quite large and was able to accommodate everyone comfortably.
We will book with Synergy again!

Awesome Salmon Trip with Captain Nick on Synergy

Fantastic trip on Synergy with Captain Nick!!! Within 20 minutes of leaving the harbor Captain Nick had us already in some big salmon. With hour one we had our first double hookup as first mate Nacho cleared lines and directed us to our respective spots at the stern of the boat. Unbelievable excitement and relief when you see that 20-plus pound salmon surface off the stern of the boat and first mate Nacho slides the net under him!!!
Highly recommend booking with Captain Nick and Nacho on Synergy. Great time and can't wait until we can do it again.

Great 1/2 day trip with Capt Nick

We booked with Capt Nick aboard the Synergy and what a trip is was! Capt Nick could have filled the cooler with Coho (a great eating fish BTW) but knew we were looking for the Kings to bend the rods, and he didn’t disappoint! We had a fantastic day and his crew are amazing! If you’re looking to charter a trip, you won’t go wrong here, and the Synergy the largest in Olcott I would say, very spacious, and comfortable!
