Catch and Cruise NC welcomes you to the stunning waters of Wilmington. Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Gabriel knows them forwards and back.
There's no guarantee when you're fishing, but just some of the species you can catch around here include Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Amberjack, Bluefish, Skipjack, Mahi Mahi, Gag Grouper, Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, Vermilion Snapper, Scup (Porgy), Bull Shark, and more, depending on the season. On the day of your trip you're likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle. For the more adventurous among you, there's bow-fishing.
Families who love fishing together will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. And, you can't go wrong with snacks!
Your vessel for the day is a 29' World Cat that can carry up to 6 passengers (4-5 for best comfort). It has outriggers, downriggers, all the essentials. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Rods, reels, and tackle are provided, as well as lures. Live bait is on offer, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. It's customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.
Don't forget to bring sunblock (non-spray), and sunglasses. There will be some bottled water on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own drinks. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks provided on board.

This trip was really fun. My wife and I took our three daughters and son on an 8hr off shore trip. Gabe is a really nice guy, very personable and knowledgeable. Caught some cool fish including a baracuda and grouper. Tried our luck drifting for shark but hey, if you actually know how to fish you know it is what it is. Essentially in an 8hr trip we got 22 miles out and were able to troll, bottom fish, and drift for sharks. Three people knew very little about fishing, two of us I’d say are pretty skilled and knowledgeable, and everyone had a great time. Would recommend to anyone. Bring plenty of sunscreen and water if sunny! Will likely charter again when we come visit family out here again. Five stars, would recommend to anyone.
If you're looking for a fishing charter that's fantastic for families, especially with kids, Captain Gabe is the one to book. From the very beginning, he went above and beyond. Before we even arrived, he helped us figure out parking, which made the morning so much less stressful. We booked the 6:00 a.m. four-hour charter, and despite the challenging conditions, we had an awesome time. We caught flounder, black sea bass, toadfish, lizardfish, and even hooked a shark before it got away! The best part of the trip, though, wasn't just the fishing it was Captain Gabe himself. He was absolutely incredible with our four kids (ages 11, 10, 8, and 7). He was patient, encouraging, and made sure each of them felt included and had a great experience. It's not easy keeping kids engaged on a fishing charter, but he made it look effortless. Captain Gabe genuinely cares about his guests having a great experience. We can't recommend him highly enough, especially for families traveling with kids. We'll absolutely be booking with him again the next time we're in town!
Top comments from our kids (ages 4-12): “I give it a 10 out of 10 stars!” “I loved catching that chonker of a Drum fish.” “Dad, that was the most fun I’ve ever had fishing.” Despite not having the best weather for the trip, Gabe and Brett made the trip memorable. The kids loved going fast on the boat, learning about the different fish and the different baits to catch them. Their excited smiles were well worth it. Thanks again!
Gabriel was an awesome Captain. He worked non stop the entire time making sure everyone had baited hook. Supert Nice Guy! Boat was great and rode smooth!! Definitely would recommend!
Nate was our ships captain, he was young, but he knew how to navigate the local waters. We caught a good collection of fish, he was accommodating to our individual needs, and a great time for our day on the water. Very realistic about what we would catch and where, and overall we had a great day on the water. Would highly recommend
