CaptainChip is here to show you the stunning waters of Clarks Hill/Lake Thurmond. Clark's Hill is one of the largest man-made lakes east of the Mississippi. With many acres of National Forest and State parks around the lake, much of the shoreline is undeveloped and abundant with wildlife. Captain Chip will be your guide, so you'll benefit from his 48 years of experience fishing these waters.
There's no guarantee when you're fishing, but some of the species you can catch around here include Striped Bass, Hybrid Striped Bass, Crappie, Largemouth, Spotted Bass, White Perch and Catfish depending on time of year. On these trips, it’s common to fish using light tackle.
Families who love fishing together will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Adult size life vests are provided. Also remember to bring snacks!
You'll find yourself aboard a 25' Hell's Bay Estero bay boat that can carry up to 6 passengers. It comes with everything you need for a productive day on the water. Capt. Chip has all tackle, live bait and rods/reels for you.
You will need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. Purchase is available online. Both SC and GA fishing Licenses are honored anywhere on the lake.
Don't leave home without sunglasses, a hat, sunblock (non-spray), and bottled water. If you'd like to bring other drinks, there is a large cooler with ice for your drinks you are welcome to use. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

TO START, CHIP WAS VERY HELPFUL IN GETTING ME SET UP NEAR WHERE WE WOULD BE FISHING. HIS BOAT WAS IMMACULATE. IT WAS EQUIPTED WITH THE LATEST ELECTRONICS AND HE WAS AN EXPERT IN USING IT. FISHING TACKLE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE AS WELL. BOAT WAS LOADED WITH LIVE BAIT WHEN I ARRIVED. WE FISHED SEVERAL WAYS DURING THE DAY. EARLY WE FREE-LINED LIVE BAIT, AS THE SUN GOT HIGHER HE SWITCHED TO SLOW TROLLING THE LIVE BAIT. TRIED PLANERS FOR A SHORT TIME BUT WASN'T VERY PRODUCTIVE CHIP MOVED AROUND SEVERAL TIMES WHEN THINGS SLOWED DOWN. HE WAS NOT CONCERNED ABOUT CATCHING MY 10 LIMIT AND BEING DONE. WE RELEASED A LOT OF FISH. CAUGHT OVER 30 FISH DURING THE TRIP. CHIP WAS VERY INFORMATIVE ABOUT THE AREA AND THE LAKE I AM SOMEWHAT HANDICAPPED AND CHIP HELPED ME GREATLY ON OUR RETURN TO THE DOCK. HE PUT MY FISH IN MY COOLER AND PUT ICE ON TOP OF THEM. HE THEN BROUGHT THEM TO MY CAR AND LOADEDTHEM IN IT. DON'T KNOW HOW THE DAY COULD HAVE BEEN ANY BETTER WILL DEFINATELY BE USING CHIP AGAIN. A VERY MEMORABLE TRIP!

Captain Chip made the whole weekend. Had 5 people on board for a bachelor trip and every one of us stayed busy and successful the whole day. Chip was very knowledgeable on when and where to move around the lake. He read the environment and adjusted accordingly. We caught stripers, hybrids and some spotted bass. He was efficient and put us on them which was all we could ask for. He even gave us some pointers on how to do it on our own. I have my own boat. But I can't tote 5 people like he can. For him to share that knowledge with us was above ans beyond. Definitely recomme d and I will definitely use him again if we make another trip. Thanks for the memories Mr. Chip.

2x amature fishermen 11 Dec. Fantastic morning out with Captain Chip. Good solid communication prior to trip. We requested to be kept busy for our morning out and we got exactly that. 50+ quality fish and 2 big smiling customers. Captain Chip was spot on right from the off and fully attentive throughout. We didnt stop for 5 hours solid. Attention to detail was superb supported by a vast wealth of knowledge. Thanx Captain you certainly know your stuff which made our vacation memorable.

My husband and I got this fishing charter for my dad for his 90th birthday. He has always wanted to catch a nice Striper. Well, we sure caught some!!! What a morning! 20+ Striper... all were good size... some were REALLY good size! Not only did Captain Chip know where to find the fish, but he also explained what he was doing, the techniques he was using (and why), and the equipment he was using. We learned so much!

Captain Chip has catching Striper & Hybrids in Clarks Hill lake down to a science. He runs a new 25 ft hells bay boat with top of the line electronics including live scope, excellent fishing gear, & even a splash propeller on a rear trolling motor to attract fish. We caught them with livebait, Alabama rigs, & small jigs on ultralight tackle. We had a blast!! highly recommend!!
