Fishing around here will often see you targeting Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Striped Bass, Sunfish, Crappie, Carp, Catfish, Rainbow Trout, and more, depending on the season. On these trips, we mostly use light tackle. Capt. James also offers fly fishing, but you may feel it best to bring your own fly gear.
Looking to get the whole family outdoors? Kids are absolutely welcome! Because Capt. James Nelson is a licensed professional, child-sized life vests are available. While there are water and snacks onboard, customers are encouraged to bring your favorite snacks and drinks
You'll be fishing from a 20' Center console that holds up to 4 passengers. It comes with all the essentials. What's more, this vessel is wheelchair accessible.
You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Upon request, live bait can be included included. Please specify if you would prefer bait or lures.
Before coming aboard, it may be required to buy a local fishing license for every adult (16+) in your group. Lake permits are included. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain.
A few items to bring include sunglasses, sunblock, and a hat. Water will be available for you. BYO alcohol is allowed in moderation, as are your own soft drinks. No glass bottles, please. There will be some light snacks provided on board.

Captain was very reaponsive, and accomodating. We caught 24 fish in half a day in the Bay. Good value for the convinece and price.

Captain James Nelson has been a fully licensed private inland waters guide longer than anybody in San Diego, California. He was born and raised in San Diego and has spent thousands of days learning the best fishing spots in Mission Bay, San Diego Bay, and the local lakes. As he honed his skills, he started to compete in tournaments, successfully participating in FLW, WON Bass, ABA, and East County Bassmasters. Now, he uses those skills to teach clients on every fishing trip he takes out. Captain James loves helping people catch fish and being a part of their most treasured memories and he is well-qualified, and certified, to take you out on the water. A father of four, he is appreciated by his clients not only as an excellent guide and teacher, who is great with kids, but also as a pleasure to fish with.
