Sarasota has a fish with your name on it, so let Reel Smart Charters help you catch it! Your guide for the day is Captain Jonathan, allowing you to benefit from their sportfishing experience.
Depending on conditions, you might hook into Mangrove Snapper, Great Barracuda, Tarpon, Sheepshead, Pompano, Hogfish, Redfish, Cobia, Tripletail, Flounder, Goliath Grouper, Snook, and whatever else is biting.
Depending on the species you’re after, you may find yourself spinning, trolling, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Jonathan also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear.
Families who love fishing together will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. You're welcome to bring snacks to keep 'em happy!
You'll be dropping lines from a 23' Center console with space for 6 passengers. It has all the essentials.
You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is included.
There's no need to buy a fishing license, so all you have to do is look forward to your trip! Keep in mind that some fish may have harvest limits or closed seasons. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain.
Don't leave home without sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray), and bottled water. If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. Food and drinks are not provided.
All trip proces do NOT include gratuity for your captain. Please remember to ask about tipping if you have any queations. Industry standard is 20-25% for your captains hard work.
If you book an inshore trip and decide to upgrade or change to a nearahore teip, there will be an additional $100 charge for the upgrade.
Any speciality trip is soley focused on the targeted species.
Your trip with Reel Smart Charters is just a click away, so why not make it happen?

This trip wasn’t perfect due to some unforeseen circumstances but we still had a great trip! Capt. Caleb was awesome and very good with our special needs friend. He got us on some fish including a record 25 in trout and a 19 in trout. Wish more were biting but all 5 of us caught sone fish. Capt Jonathan called after our trip concluded to see how it was. We had booked for nesr shore but due to weather conditions, we had to do in shore fishing. I’ve been on at least a dozen charters but this was the first time a captain called us personally to make sure we got what we wanted and is willing to make sure we were happy. We are extremely happy, lucky to have found them, and we HIGHLY recommend you call Reel Smart Charters! Jax Ritchey
Thank you, Jax, for the great review and recommendation! We appreciate your flexibility when the weather required us to switch from nearshore to inshore fishing. We’re glad we were able to put your group on some quality trout and make the trip enjoyable for everyone. It also means a lot to hear that our communication and follow-up stood out from your previous charter experiences. Thank you for choosing Reel Smart Charters. We enjoyed having your group aboard and look forward to fishing with you again soon!
The charter operator canceled on trip date. This is an automated posting.

We had a great time fishing with all of you today! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We truly appreciate it and look forward to welcoming you back next year for another memorable trip.
It was the kids first trip out and Captain Caleb treated u awesome. Highly recommend!
Thank you for the review Larry! we are glad that you and the boys had a great time for their first time out.

Liked the guys who took us out. But: trolling motor did not work, and was vital for fishing in one of the spots. Unbeknownst to us, captain added an additional crewmember to the trip (would've been nice to know). Our goal was to catch a trophy tarpon, it didn't happen which is understandable. But it was insulting when they took us to fish in the harbor, and competed for a spot with a 6 year old kid fishing from a dock.. Also, for $900+, no food or water onboard for guests is unheard of. We brought our own, but.. that felt wrong.
Unfortunately, equipment can occasionally fail without warning. The trolling motor issue was unexpected, and it was not something that could have been repaired on the water during the charter. We recognize the inconvenience this caused and regret its impact on the day. Regarding the fishing locations, none of us could have anticipated that a child would be fishing from the exact area we intended to target. That situation was completely outside of our control. As for the fishing itself, tarpon fishing is highly dependent on fish behavior, tides, and conditions. During your trip, only one boat among the fleet fishing the main tarpon run was able to hook up. We discussed options with you on the water, including whether to remain in the area or relocate, and we made multiple moves in an effort to find active fish. While we always work hard to put our guests in the best possible position for success, no charter can guarantee that fish will bite. Finally, our policy is that guests provide their own food and beverages. We have chosen this approach because dietary preferences, allergies, and individual needs vary significantly from one group to another
