Discover Tamarindo – Quita Calzon
Tamarindo has a fish with your name on it, so let Discover Tamarindo help you catch it! With a local captain at the helm, you'll benefit from years of knowledge and experience.
Mahi Mahi, Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, and more could be biting if you come at the right time of year. You'll target your catch by spinning, popping, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites so that nobody gets cranky on an empty belly!
The captain operates a 31' sportfishing vessel that holds up to 4 passengers. It comes with a fighting chair, and everything you need for a productive day on the water. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you. Live bait is available, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. Mates often work for tips and it's customary to offer them a 10–20% tip.
You will need to purchase a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
Don't forget to bring sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen (non-spray). There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be food and some light snacks available on board.
