Ocean Fun & Fishing – Big Game Portugal 

What can I say what an incredible experience! We were celebrating my 50th birthday, and the five of us decided to go marlin fishing. I’ve been many times before but had never caught one. Then, on my 50th birthday, it finally happened: I landed a 70lb white marlin, which we successfully tagged and released! The crew were amazing from start to finish. They even surprised me with a birthday cake, and I loved raising the flag to show that I had caught my first marlin. The boat was perfect, spacious and extremely well equipped. If you’re thinking about going marlin fishing, these guys are the real deal. An unforgettable experience for all five of us and the perfect way to celebrate my 50th birthday!

Captain Joao and the guys on board made it a day to remember for the rest of our lives. We went out for white marlin in one of the toughest months of the season and we came back with one caught (20/25KG), one fish lost, saw 50+ dolphins and 2/3 pilot whales. Truly great morning out. We had a lovely breakfast laid on for us on arrival that all of us enjoyed. The boat had more than enough cold drinks of every type for us. They were all very knowledgable and spoke great English and spent time explaining all about the fishing and the fish. We had two kids with us (11 and 9) and the youngest felt sea sick so captain gave him anti sea sickness tablets that obviously worked as he managed to sneak off and eat half of the cake we were given for breakfast 🤣. The other boy caught the first fish we hooked and the guys tagged and released it, giving him a certificate that named the fish after him and gave him a memento of the capture that he will never forget. All in all a great trip and cannot recommend more. I’ll definitely be looking to return and go out again with these guys. Thanks Joao and the boys.

We had an absolutely amazing morning out on the water with Captain João and his fantastic team in Olhão, Algarve. Our group of six—mostly young adults—had such a fun and memorable experience. The crew were warm, professional, and made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped on board. The fishing itself was great—we caught plenty of fish and had lots of laughs along the way. Captain João shared his local knowledge and really made the trip feel personal and special. The best part? The youngsters took our catch home and grilled it later that day—fresh, delicious, and the perfect end to an unforgettable outing. Highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting the Algarve. It started with helping us last minute when our other boat had to cancel. We were greeted with an amazing spread for breakfast while we rode to the spot to begin fishing. It wasn’t too long till we were hooked up to a big fish. Then the crew got me set up and assisted me the whole time. Unfortunately we lost the fish after an hour of fighting but that is fishing. We then had an amazing lunch and we hooked up two more times and lost one at the boat and landed the other. Overall was above the experience I was hoping for and great memories were made. I highly recommend and will be back.

We had so much fun!! We had a group of 4 including an 8 year old and we all had an absolute blast! Capt. Joao and his crew were just incredible! They were absolutely amazing and took care of everything. We didn’t need to bring any food or drinks on the boat because it was completely catered. Breakfast and lunch were perfect- just what we needed to be on the boat all day. We had some food restrictions and allergies and they were able to accommodate all of us. We were staying in Ericeira and they offered to pack a lunch for us for the road trip back. They were the best host! The boat charter by itself was pretty fun and the weather was perfect! We were fishing for tuna and though they were everywhere around us we didn’t get much action. Our charter was concluding and we were headed back to the marina but at the last minute our crew spotted some action in the opposite direction and decided to take one last chance at it. We were so happy they did because we got a double strike (2 tuna at the same time)!! Everyone was so excited!! Though we lost one, we were able to fight the other and absolutely enjoyed it!! We fought for a while and got the massive fish close enough to the boat to see it in the water. Unfortunately, we lost the tuna but it was estimated to have been around 240kilos!! Incredible! A must do if you’re ever in the area and you can’t go wrong with Capt. Joao and his crew. They have tons of experience and love what they do.

My son and brother inlaw wanted to fish offshore in the Algarve, I can't say enough about Joao and his crew. The crew and captain were a class act and very friendly. We will go back next year no doubt. 10 min into the trip, we hooked and landed a large white marlin, awesome day and can't say enough about this boat, Ty again gents, you made our trip

My wife and I booked a six hour big game trip $1300 CAD (blue/ white marlin, skipjack, bonito). Four man crew who were very nice. I’m Canadian and all four crew members spoke good English. We were served breakfast and lunch 👌🏻. We had five lines in the water at all times but did not get a fish on the boat. That’s fishing I suppose. The boat was very nice. We had a nice ten minute dolphin show. They told me June and July are best cause of the blue fin tuna

Big Game Fishing trip from Olhão, Portugal !

It would have been nice to have caught a tuna, but unfortunately they weren’t biting. The trip was still a good experience. The crew was great and very accommodating. Joao, Luis, and Antonio were the best!
