    (3 HR SHRIMP/CRAB (MID DAY))

    Wonderful morning!

3-hour charter catching shrimp and crabs. We learned so much about the fisheries, and brought home a bushel of crabs and 2 big bags of shrimp!! Incredible experience seeing the whole process, we would highly recommend. Spotless boat, and Jamie and Fisher are some of the nicest people I have ever met on the water. Can’t wait to get back!

    Great time

Captain Allick is great. We had 3 adults, a teenager, and 2 kids and everyone had a blast. Started by catching our bait - shrimp and little jumping fish - we even got a pound to take home for dinner. Then caught 2 black tip sharks, a stingray, a croaker fish and a whiting. Captain Allick was well organized, great with telling the kids what to do, very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended.

    Epic battle

Captain Allick hooked us onto a 9ish foot lemon shark. Was a great experience and an epic battle.

    Sharks, Shrimp, and More!

We had a great time with Captain Allick! Our group of 5 adults wanted to do a bit of everything, and Captain Allick made sure we got to it all. We started by getting shrimp (enough for dinner!) and then went on to pull in some sharks, some fish, and a huge Stingray. We also got to see a ton of dolphins swimming by throughout the morning. Overall it was a great day out on the water - we would highly recommend!

    Sharks and More Sharks

Allick was a great Captain. 4 of us on charter from 48-23. He asked us what we wanted to do after left it to him and he said let’s get some big sharks. He was not kidding. First one my 23 year old daughter pulls up a 2 foot hammerhead. 15 min later my SIL gets a 3 footer. 15 min later my daughters BF gets a 4’. Then we hit the monster. We fought for 20 + minutes and he thinks by its fight was over 8-9’. Snapped line. Then 15 min later got into and landed a 5’ bull. What a day.

The term “Shrimp” covers many different species of crustaceans, hundreds of them! They’ve been a staple of seaside communities’ cookbooks since the dawn of mankind and it doesn’t look like they’ll stop being important any time soon.

Where and When

Shrimping is possible in almost any salt water on the planet – these little shellfish are very widespread. You can go shrimping before first light, midday, or even at night. Night is one of the more popular times to catch Shrimp as you can attract them by using specialized lights.

How to Fish

One of the more popular ways of catching Shrimp is by using homemade Shrimp traps. They’re fairly simple, rectangular boxes of fine mesh wire with a one-way opening that you place facing the current.

You’re more likely to see anglers haul in Shrimp for bait by seining the shallows. This technique is basically two (or more) anglers slowly moving through the shallows with a 1-inch hole net, scooping everything in. It can be a real workout if it’s a large net, but you can bring in your daily limit in a single go.

Most sportfishing anglers will get Shrimp the easiest way possible – by purchasing it directly from a commercial shrimping vessel. The crew of these trawlers are usually happy to sell some of their bait to eager anglers.

Shrimping regulations vary from state to state and country to country, with differences in techniques allowed, traps and equipment used, and seasonality. Always make sure to check with the locals before you start hauling them in.

Good to Eat?

Shrimp are an incredibly versatile ingredient in kitchens all over the planet. You can eat them hot or cold, whole or mashed to a paste. Just make sure you’re not allergic before digging into a steaming bowl of gumbo!
