Captain Doug was a great guy.

Captain Doug was a nice guy. We had a good time. we snagged a few hardheads, kept a few gaft tops, caught a huge sting ray and gar that we released. We wished we could have all caught the big one, but it just was our day for that this time.

    Todd was awesome

First time out on a charter like this for my 4 kids. They all caught fish and we caught a couple of stingrays. We all had a great time and Todd was so patient and mindful of the kids having a good time. Would 100% recommend.

Skate fishing targets bottom-dwelling relatives of Rays that live on sand and mud. Anglers chase them for steady fights, surprising size, and tasty fillets when regulations allow. These fish pull hard and stay pinned to the bottom, making each catch feel earned.

The go-to method is bottom fishing with natural bait. Fresh Mackerel, Herring, Squid, or Crab strips work well. Use a simple fish-finder rig, which lets the bait move while the sinker holds bottom. Pair it with circle hooks for solid corner-of-the-mouth hookups and easier releases. A tough leader helps against rough skin and spines.

Skate fishing is a patient, hands-on style. Expect long waits, slow taps, then heavy, steady pressure. It suits beginners who like simple rigs and clear steps, and it rewards experienced anglers who can read subtle bites. Bring warm layers, non-slip shoes, and gloves for safe handling. Keep the fish in the water when possible, support the wings, and use a dehooker for a quick release if needed.

Rules for Skate fishing vary by location and species. Some areas require a fishing license and specific permits. Seasons, areas, and harvest rules can change, and certain Skates may be protected. Always check local regulations for licenses, permits, seasons, and harvest limits before your trip.
