The captain was knowledgeable, friendly, and really worked to ensure we caught fish. We caught trigger, Black Sea bass, flounder and tautog. It was a great trip and great family time. Will definitely use him again in the near future!

Fantastic trip
10/10. We have been to many fishing trips and Captain Dave is the best! We caught a lot of fish - flounders, croakers, spot, tog, toadfish, sea bass, and crabs that refused to let the bait go. The 6 hour trip ran fast with enjoyable memories, especially big flounders and tog to show off :). Will definitely book again in our next vacation!

We had a great time during our trip with Captain Cole. He was extremely friendly and did everything possible to make us feel welcome on his boat. We got into the flounder early and we caught them throughout our time on his boat. i would definitely go on a trip with him again.

Very fun trip
Cole and Mason were very knowledgeable and friendly. They got us on multiple species of fish and we got to try a variety of fishing methods. They are well stocked on bait and have all the equipment you need. We will definitely try to get back out for another trip in the future! Highly recommend!

You can find Tautog around the Atlantic coast of North America, specifically from the Gulf of St. Lawrence all the way down to South Carolina. They’re most abundant between Cape Cod and Delaware Bay. Tautog live around rocky bottoms close to the shore, though they sometimes enter brackish waters. They usually stay in waters that are up to 60' deep when the weather is warm, but during winter months they tend to go offshore into deeper waters up to 240’ in depth.
How to Fish
Tautog feed primarily on mollusks, gastropods, and crustaceans. They can be challenging to land, since they live around rocky ledges that can easily cause snagged lines. It’s recommended to use clams or crustaceans for bait, as these are the Tautog’s favorite food. There’s a trick to successfully hooking one: don’t set the hook as soon as you feel the strike, wait for the fish to swallow the bait first. Tautog are also popular targets of spearfishermen, since they can be found around underwater wrecks and aren’t too spooky.
Good to Eat?
The ‘Tog has white, dry flesh with a delicate flavor and is considered one of the tastiest fish you can land, often compared to the taste of Red Snapper. You can prepare Tautog any way you would prepare a Flounder, or toss it in a chowder!
