Disappointing
6 Hour Inshore trip - 12:00 PM • 2 adultsOur experience started with trying to figure out the Louisiana licensing requirements and not getting much assistance. Our trip was scheduled a couple of days after a hurricane had hit east of our location. It was fairly breezy, so conditions were not ideal. A couple of hours intonthe trip, our boat broke down, so we spent the remainder of our time waiting for a tow and then being towed in. I understand that these things happen, but my advice is to NEVER book a “non refundable” trip, especially if taking the trip means driving almost 1000 miles to get there. There should be a refund policy in the event of equipment failure. I won’t be booking again.
Response from CaptainJim, I absolutely agree! But boat engine components do sometimes fail without warning. Fortunately, it was not a few hours into the trip as you stated, it was at the very end and less that 100 yards from the last spot we were already headed to, and because we did have to wait on a tow, you actually benefited by receiving extra fishing time as well. I think this maybe a teaching moment for all. Guides don't control the weather, the fish, or the life expectancy of a outboard motor component. BTW, it was an electronic shift controller that failed, leading to an out of sync gear that caused the failure. Not something caused by a lack of maintenance or neglect. While you're opinion is you were somehow shorted or taken advantage of in some way, that is simply not the case. The truth of the matter is, a premature failure of an electronic component caused an unexpected catastrophic lower unit failure that'll cost $7,500.00 or more. But hey, that's not your problem, right! That's the best part of hiring a guide, not have to worry about all the things you never think about or expect from boat ownership! Oh, and let's not forget having to clean the boat at the end of the day... 😉 Also, my offer of a Full day for a half day price still stands even though your review was less than complementary. And, 1☆ for the boat? Seriously?!?! I paid $150,000.00 for that Bad Boy!
