- Bottom fishing is what I really like to get the anglers on, especially groupers. There is no comparison to the pull that a big gag grouper gives and how good they are to cook. I like to see groups come in with a full fish box and smiles on their faces, this is what keeps people coming back year after year. Inshore and Nearshore trolling can also be great fun and fishing, there are so many different species for us to catch in a relatively close area in this part of NC. Summer time can mean spanish mackerel, king mackerel, bluefish even mahi mahi are in fairly close proximity. In the late summer/fall the trophy red drum fishery in the Neuse River is a blast, 20-50 pound red drum on medium weight spin gear are an unreal experience.
