Captain Gregory Hopping has been fishing all over the world, but he fell in love with it while he was growing up in Sydney. When he discovered Samoa, after running charters in various countries, he decided to open a fishing business there, and he hasn't looked back since. He's a certified IGFA captain, a passionate conservationist, and a big proponent of Billfish catch-and-release.

    MV Pure Indulgence - Troppo Fishing

    Full Day Charter

    Booking trip at short notice was great. Talking with skipper prior we made plan to go later in day as skipper indicated yellowfin were biting better in afternoon at the time, Crew were excellent and put us onto target species after trawling for just over an hour. We had a double hook up and we landed both fish after 1 hour 20 with some excellent advice through the fight. Gear was excellent. Guys experienced and friendly. We left the boat with all the fillets we could possibly eat and left the rest for crew to take back to there families. 2 large yellowfin in excess of 60kg. Superb trip

    Pure Indulgence Samoa

    Greg, Loota and Sam were fantastic hosts and very experienced fishermen. There was none of this just chucking out a few Skirted Lures and dragging them behind the Boat all day hoping that a fish would strike. We constantly changed Skirts and different areas looking for the fish and what Lures they wanted for the day. I have fished with the Pure Indulgence Team for the past three years and learnt some valuable techniques that I use to improve my catch rates back here in Australia. They are a professional team that love putting their customers on the FISH.

    Amazing location, Amazing crew and the best fishing trip money can buy. I've fished three years in a row with Troppo and can't get enough, there hospitality is second to none and fishing in tropical blue water is addictive. You won't find a better owner/skipper/decky and your Troppo adventure will be a memory that will last forever.

    GO TROPPO IN SAMOA

    Fished with Greg and Loota 3 times, had a ball every time, plenty of fish, laughs, beer and tequila. Cant wait to get over to Samoa again.

Troppo Samoa Report May - June 2016

Another terrific month of fishing has seen the continuation of a solid yellowfin run and an ongoing increase in the size and numbers of mahi mahi and wahoo been landed. The best fishing has been had strait out the front of Apia and over the second drop off wide of Vaivasi. Here, yellowfin to 60kg have been landed on the change of tide as they chomp their way through large schools of scad and whitebait. There have also been good sized mahi landed on the fringes with fish to 20kg being common. Sailfish have also been in the mix. Blue marlin have been on the chew over the seamounts east of Asau, with the Kiwi boats (Braveheart & Because) remaining to fish on after our international tournament tagging multiple fish. Closer inshore along the fringing reef edges wahoo and Spanish mackeral have been biting in very good numbers with Spaniards to 20kg being the norm. As we move into July the fishing will continue to improve. The numbers and size of both mahi mahi and wahoo will increase steadily. Dog tooth tuna will be biting on the seamounts and blue marlin will become a more constant bite as they chase schools of juvenile skipjack along the north and south coasts of the islands.
