The winter fishing has kicked off to a great start with the first few cold fronts rolling through. Changing weather means changing patterns in fish, creating unique opportunities as fish and move between cold weather and warm weather haunts. Large groups of snook and reds can move into shallow flats looking for shrimp, looking for an easy meal for the proper presentation. Big barracuda can be found on flats as well and can provide a drag screaming and aerial show. Lots of opportunities for the angler looking to warm up and pursue the great winter fishing the florida keys have to offer!

Winter is filled with great opportunities to catch what we call belly crawlers. The shallow waters of the backcountry warm up faster and fish fill into some really great spots for sightfishing. The local tarpon fishing can be great on warmer days also and these fish can be found in a variety of close spots. In short, winter is a time not to be missed in the backcountry of the Florida keys and Everglades national park!
