Fishing in Sarasota Bay has been great all week. The cold weather did not slow them too much. Sheepshead, trout and redfish have been good on my boat. We have been using a mix of artificial and live bait for all species.

We have been lucky lately and our seas have been flat which is giving us the chance to get off shore some in these bay boats. Bottom fishing out to 10 miles has been excellent and we have been bringing nice catches back to the dock. We have also been catching some nice big grouper in the 40-50 feet of water. Mostly using cut bait , squid and some shrimp at times. We are still using some shrimp hoping to get a hog fish keeper but for the most part, the bigger hog fish have moved out deeper with the rising water temps. Had a great inshore trip with Stephen Rebout and his family out of Sarasota this morning. Kids were new to fishing so we mostly worked on technique and catching some trout on shrimp. Later Stephens 8 year old son thought it would be a good idea to land a very nice cobia on a swimbait over the grass. Great job by these guys and I hope to see you again.
