Hey there everyone, Capt. Vinnie here, with another Fort Lauderdale deep sea fishing report for all of you. So for this week I would have to say the theme of the report is going to be honestly, now with that being said I would like to point out that in all reports I do my very best to give you the most honest and accurate report that I can, meaning good, and bad. Not every week the fishing is outstanding like others may make it seem it still is fishing after all and things change daily. Moving on to what you really came here for.... The report this week has been hit and miss meaning some days fishing is good and other days it has been a real grind and i think majority of what is making it a grind is the seaweed. If you have been watching the news or even social media I am sure you have seen a video or two of the beaches full of seaweed. Some days what's on the beach is on the fishing grounds before it gets to the beach. When the seaweed is on the fishing grounds it really makes it tough to troll and catch fish, you do get rewarded at times for grinding it out and fishing through the seaweed but it really is tough on the crew. As far as what has been biting lately on the reef there has been a scattered amount of king mackerel biting trolling baits fished below the surface and mixed in with them has been some bonitos. Kingfish are going to be caught on sea witches and bonito strips and the bonito are going to bite best on a drone spoon in the blue color. Moving just off the reef there has been some blackfin tunas, but they have been deeper then normal around 400 feet. Smaller baits are going to be best due to the bait they are eating naturally. Small baits would include squid skirts, spoons, or lures under 2 inches. The tuna have been active in the mornings but the afternoons seem to be more productive. For an offshore report this week the mahi have been biting pretty well but you do need a trip longer then 4 hours if you want to target mahi I suggest 6 or even 8 hours. There has been some nice weed patches out there as well as some floating debris which I have a photo I took of a floating wood pallet. This pallet that we found didn't have a bunch of mahi on it but it did have wahoo which in my opinion is better then mahi. That goes to show you never know and it always pays to be ready. Last but not least we did some bottom fishing this week with some old friends catching some really nice snowy and yellow edge grouper. In my opinion these types of grouper are the absolute best tasting fish in the ocean, they are somewhat rare and live in deep water where there is structure, they are a fish that is hush hush in the fishing industry. We were lucky enough to have the correct conditions to fish for these great fish and to get to catch them with some great friends brings it all together. The season is now closed on these deep water gems till next year. This week please take a minute to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters and remember to give us a like and follow "Ybnormalsportfishing" on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram for daily fishing content. Coming up for the next few weeks I would expect the mahi bite to keep improving more and more as we reach the heat of summer, I also think we would start to see more and more kingfish daily as long as the seaweed stays controlled but that is a day to day basis so I am sending my prayers out now. Bottom fishing for yellowtail snapper should come into play soon as well so be on the look out in future reports, for the next few weeks availability is good if your looking to get out deep sea fishing, we have plenty of openings and trip selections to suit anyones needs, so look up YB Normal serving Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood and Dania beach. Awesome Fall Deep Sea Fishing In Fort La
Awesome Fall Deep Sea Fishing In Fort La
Oktobar 11, 2026
Hello there, Capt. Vinnie here and back with another great deep sea fishing report. This week we had some very nice weather earlier in the week and as we approached the weekend the winds and seas picked up, fishing this week started out great catching a few sailfish just on the edge of the reef. There has been a few days where the sailfish have shown in some numbers which is great news for the winter to come. We are still catching all sailfish trolling right now, our live bait season is just around the corner though. So stay tunned for that in future reports. On the reef other then sailfish there has been a very good bite of kingfish and some nice ones at that, the most important thing right now is to be using mullet strips while trolling and the reason why I say this is because right now we are having the mullet run and there are big schools of these bait fish coming down our beaches as well as offshore bait balls and a lot of the predator fish are capitalizing on these baits, so it only makes sense to use exactly what there eating, match the hatch is what we call it. The kingfish have been biting best over the shallow shipwrecks and bottom structure around 100-130 feet of water and the average size has been 10-12lbs with a few bigger ones mixed in. One species that has been hot as well this week and specially on the days that the wind has been up is mahi mahi. The fall season in my opinion is the best time for mahi fishing in the Fort Lauderdale area and the size of them is a lot bigger then our summer season. On windy days the mahi have been in as shallow as 50 feet chasing live ballyhoo, the key is to look for birds diving and seeing the ballyhoo shower on top of the water while there getting chased. There has also been a few mahi offshore when the outgoing tide meets the gulfstream waters causing a tide line or current edge, trolling down these current edges is going to produce great results specially early in the mornings. Average size of the mahi right now has been 10lbs. Last but not least this week we did see some blackfin tuna action in depths around 300 feet. Smaller baits fished below the surface like spoons have been a good choice to get bites but your going to sacrifice quality for quantity fishing smaller baits, but if your looking for bigger tuna its better to fish bigger baits at faster speeds, which also could open up an opportunity for wahoo as well. The tuna bite has been best early in the morning from sunrise to around 830am. This week please take a second to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale, and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram at Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Coming up for this week and next we have plenty of availability for deep sea fishing charters, the pictures of our recent catches speak for themselves. Fishing is great right now and should remain that way for quite some time. If your thinking about coming down to Fort Lauderdale for a weekend get a way or even vacation and thinking about fishing, now is the time! Great Start To Fall Deep Sea Fishing
Great Start To Fall Deep Sea Fishing
Septembar 30, 2026
Hey there, Capt. Vinnie here back with a great Fort Lauderdale deep sea fishing report. We had a rainy week this week and a light cold front to cool things off, but there was a few days that the weather was absolutely fantastic, and i would say the fishing was just about the same. For the report this week we finally got to see the run of fall fishing we love. Mahi mahi is always a hot topic and fall is one of the best times to catch them, a lot of people think summer is the best and it can be but the fish tend to be smaller specially in our area and not much is consistent like as to where you can find them. The fall mahi season is when we see majority of our bigger mahi and plenty of numbers. Due to all the rain we have been having it has given our inshore waters a tanic look or tea color, and when we have an outgoing tide all that inshore water moves out to sea forming a tide line where the blue water meets the green water and that has been where the mahi fishing has been excellent. This tideline has been easy to find by the different color in the water as well as weed lines going north to south and floating debris. This is where the gulfstream water meets the outgoing tide. Trolling on the blue side has been straight money for mahi mahi and multiple hook ups have been the norm. Its very important to have rods to cast when you get multiple hook ups because majority of the fish are in a school and you want to take advantage of those opportunities. Average size on the mahi have been anywhere from 8-12lbs. We did find this edge on a half day trip but i recommend a 3/4 day trip or even all day trip right now if mahi is what your after. We have a photo this week of a great all day trip we had catching 40 mahi mahi! Exactly on that edge I was talking about. Other then mahi right now there has been some wahoo due to the full moon and the crazy king tides we have been having. The tidal edge I mentioned earlier is also a great place to try for wahoo and never hurts to fish a bait below the surface on a planner just in case! Inshore we are starting to see a fall flurry of king mackeral and it should keep improving as we get further into the month of October, last but not least there has been a small trickle of sailfish which I personally think maybe a hint for a great winter season, right now we are still mostly trolling for all species but in another few months all that gear will be put away and transition into our live bait gear, seeing a nice little flurry should continue as we reach our winter months. This week please take a minute to check out some of our great photos of some recent catches that were caught on our deep sea fishing charters and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram at Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Coming up, I think that the mahi fishing will continue to stay very good until November so there is plenty of time to get out there and catch them, also i think as the water cools we will see more blackfin tuna and a few more wahoo so be on the look out for that in future reports. As for availability there is plenty for the month of October and fall fishing is one of my favorite times and is when i tell a lot of our customers to come back and fish with us again! So if your thinking of coming down to do some deep sea fishing now is the time, the pictures speak for themselves all you have to do is look up is YB Normal servicing Fort Lauderdale, Dania beach and Hollywood beach for deep sea fishing charters. more later.... Rainy Week Of Deep Sea Fishing
Rainy Week Of Deep Sea Fishing
Septembar 17, 2026
Hello there, Capt. Vinnie here back with another Fort Lauderdale sport fishing report. This week has been a little slow for us here in the deep sea fishing department, it's offseason right now and these hefty fuel prices are not helping for business either, but we were able to get out on a few trips this week and thats all thanks to our great customers that come to fish with us which we are very grateful and thankful for. Fishing this week has been some what tough, i hate to say it but thats what it is, we seem to be having what's called a cold water upwelling at the moment and the reason I can confirm that is because we have been having northern currents on the surface and southern currents on the bottom bringing that colder water from up north, also we have been experiencing a healthy amount of rain and that has made the inshore waters very green. In terms of fishing the trolling bite has been decent to say the best, blackfin tuna and bonito aka false albacores have been super prevalent early in the mornings in depths around 200 feet, majority of the action has been on the surface with smaller lures trying to imitate flying fish, the earlier the better right now if you can get out before the sun comes up even better, once the sun seems to get up the bite fades quickly. There has been some pretty nice sized tunas around as big as 15lbs but the false albacores have been on the smaller side. Bottom fishing this week has been the real winner with solid catches of larger vermillion and yellow eye snappers. We had some very good luck fishing some hard bottom in 270 feet with some quality fish to prove it, the month of September is one of the last months that the snappers spawn out of Fort Lauderdale and from fishing out here for so many years I knew exactly where to look. Last but not least way offshore the mahi mahi fishing has been great but an all day trip is absolutely necessary because of the distance they been offshore. The mahi have been on weed lines and birds, the most important thing is to be ready incase a school comes up when you hook up, having extra rods rigged for that and live bait is going to help maximize opportunities if you get that school of fish behind the boat, September and October are great months for mahi fishing in Fort Lauderdale so keep that in mind when planning your next trip. This week please be sure to check out some great photos of some recent catches that where caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like facebook and instagram at Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. This week coming up we are going to be down for some much needed maintenance, but will return full throttle the week prior with plenty availability for your next deep sea fishing charter. If your heading down to south Florida and looking to do some fishing check out YB Normal for all your deep sea fishing needs servicing Fort Lauderdale, Dania beach, and Hollywood beach. more later.....
