We had an awesome time fishing aboard Lady May with Captain Anthony and his first mate. We booked the four-hour afternoon reef fishing charter, and communication both during the booking process and leading up to the charter was excellent.
My 13-year-old son is neurodivergent (autistic), and having a calm, friendly, no-pressure environment made a huge difference in allowing him to relax and enjoy experiencing something completely new.
This was his first time fishing. He actually came along with me not particularly interested in fishing but mostly humoring his dad because he knows how much I love the sport. By the end of the charter, he was telling me it was the highlight of our entire trip!
Captain Anthony and his first mate were friendly, patient, and fantastic with him. They took the time to show him everything—from baiting and casting to getting a feel for a bite, knowing when to set the hook, reeling the fish in, and safely taking it off the hook. There was never any pressure or rushing. They simply let him learn and enjoy it at his own pace.
And he definitely learned! He ended up catching 8+ fish on his very first fishing trip, including several different types of reef fish. With every fish, you could see his confidence and excitement growing. He absolutely loved it.
The whole afternoon had a relaxed, authentic Cayman feel. We got to see how they prepared the freshly caught conch for bait, spent plenty of time actually fishing, and the crew worked hard to keep us on the fish. We had beautiful weather and incredible views from the boat, especially as the sun started going down.
What I appreciated most was that this became about much more than catching fish. It turned into an incredible father-and-son experience and one of my favorite memories from our time in Grand Cayman. As a dad who loves fishing, seeing my son go from simply tagging along for me to genuinely loving the experience himself was pretty special.
If you're visiting Grand Cayman and looking for a fun, laid-back reef fishing charter—especially if you're bringing kids, a first-time angler, or someone who might benefit from a patient and relaxed environment.
I would absolutely recommend Lady May and Captain Anthony.
