    Great Time! lots of fish!

Captain and Mate were incredibly knowledgable and knew the right spots to hit. We caught quite a few fish and then had it cooked for us right in from of the dock. Highly recommend.

    Great trip!

As experienced fisherman, it was great to simply be guests! Gerard and Edgar were great. Although the bite on the troll was slow, they put us on some great grouper and snapper. Very friendly and knowledgeable! Will be back!

    Great Trips!

We actually went twice during our trip to Costa Rica. One was a half day trip and one was a full day trip. We caught a good variety of fish and a good amount as well on both trips. We had a great time and would do it all over again!

Broomtail Grouper is a powerful reef predator known for its broom-shaped tail and bold strikes. Anglers target it for tough fights near structure and excellent table fare. If you want a challenge with real pulling power, Broomtail Grouper fishing delivers.

Most crews use bottom fishing over reefs and rocky bottoms. This means dropping bait to the seafloor and waiting for a bite. Live bait like small bait fish works well, and squid or cut bait also produce. Heavy jigs can trigger reaction strikes. Use stout tackle, a strong rod, and an abrasion-resistant leader, which is a short, tougher line near the hook. Circle hooks help with solid hookups and safe releases.

Expect patient fishing with sudden, hard runs when a fish eats. These Grouper try to dive into holes, so you need to turn them fast. This makes for short, intense battles that thrill beginners and seasoned anglers alike. Wear sun protection, bring a hat and polarized sunglasses, and pack layers for changing weather. Listen to your captain about when to set the hook, how to pump the rod, and how to handle fish for release or harvest.

Rules for Broomtail Grouper vary by location. Always check local fishing license and permit needs before your trip. Confirm open seasons, harvest rules, and any size or bag limits that apply. Some areas may require release, have closed seasons, or special area rules. When in doubt, ask your captain and follow responsible fishing practices.
