Reef Relief Charters invites you to hop on for an exciting fishing trip out of Saint Petersburg, Florida. This is a father and son operation run by Captains Richard and David Kleinhans. Both of them are passionate anglers and have been fishing in the Gulf for over two decades now.

Their boat is a 25’ Parker that’s powered by a single 300 HP Yamaha engine. It’s outfitted with a private head, which comes very useful on longer trips. Other than that, expect a full array of navigation electronics, a livewell for bait, and an ice box to store your catch in. With enough room for up to 6 anglers, you can bring the whole family along for the ride!

Captains Rich and Dave specialize in offshore fishing and what better place for that than the Gulf of Mexico. Those interested in sportfishing will have their hands full with Kingfish, Tuna, Cobia, Sharks and more besides. If you’d prefer to go after some bottom feeders instead, you’re in luck. From Flounder to a number of different Grouper and Snapper, the reefs are teeming with delicious fish. And the captains will make sure to clean your catch in the end.

Rods, reels, and terminal tackle are all included in the price of any given trip. Snorkeling gear can be made available upon request. Just make sure to pack your favorite pair of polarized sunglasses, as well as some drinks and snacks if you’re so inclined. All that’s left then is to get your game face on and come aboard!

Great Experience from A to Z!

This was a trip for my son’s 16th birthday. Whether it be my son who is an avid fisher to myself and his best friend who are lesss abide to the rest of the family who does not fish the captain kept everyone well entertained and having fun. He knew what what he was doing and kept us all fishing non stop. If an area dried up on bites he’d move us and immediately after dropping lines in we were pulling up fish again! We flew in from NJ so we didn’t have a way to keep the fish we caught and he said he would be giving the fish to those who need it (save for my 25” Mahi Mahi … that was for him!) We can not recommend him highly enough and look forward to booking again!

Top Notch Fishing with Capt Rich

6 Hour Trip on June 5, 2025 • 4 adults

We had an unforgettable deep sea fishing trip with Capt. Rich, and we can’t say enough good things about the entire experience! From the moment we stepped on the boat, we knew we were in great hands. Capt. Rich was friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about what he does. He made sure we were comfortable, had everything we needed, and most importantly – that we were on the fish! And wow, did we catch fish! We landed several keeper-size grouper and redfish, which was a huge thrill. On top of that, we caught a variety of other species throughout the day – it felt like the action never stopped. The icing on the cake? We even hooked into a handful of sharks, which really got the adrenaline pumping and made for some awesome stories (and photos)! The boat was clean, well-maintained, and had plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy the day. Capt. Rich was super knowledgeable about the area and the different species we were targeting. He went out of his way to make sure we were not only catching fish but also having a blast while doing it. This trip checked all the boxes, it was the perfect combination of excitement, laughs, and great memories. We’ll definitely be booking with Capt. Rich again – and we highly recommend you do too!

Absolutely Amazing

We went out as a family and all I have to say is Captain Rich was beyond amazing. Our two boys that have never done anything like this 8 and 9 years old. We caught lots and lots of fish. We seen pods of dolphins and even seen a sea turtle! Captain Rich was so patient with the boys, he helped with everything! We will be returning next year and hopefully making this a yearly vacation tradition!

Unforgettable!

Full Day on July 15, 2025 • 5 adults

Had an amazing first-time fishing trip! We caught lots of grouper, some smaller fish, and even an eel, which we released. I also caught one of those cool fish with a suction cup on its head. Captain Rich was great to talk to, and the whole experience was unforgettable. We fished for about 5–6 hours during an 8-hour trip, and even with a bit of sea sickness, I’d 100% do it again!!

Favorite charter in the Gulf

Extended Day on September 9, 2025 • 2 adults

Me and my dad came out for a fishing trip. This was our 3rd or 4th time booking with Captain Rich and Captain Dave. Very friendly, personable, and helpful. We had a great time even though we were hit by a rain storm and got soaked. 10/10, will be booking with Reef Relief next summer for another trip! Thanks guys!!
