Sierpe Fishing offers you the chance to target an unbelievable mix of gamefish, battling in the rivers, shallows, and offshore bluewaters against everything from Snapper and Roosterfish to Mahi Mahi and Yellowfin Tuna. You will launch onto the beautiful Sierpe River, making your way to the best spots through lush mangroves full of monkeys and exotic birds. Costa Rica’s biodiversity is truly a sight to behold! Here, you can take on a full cast of big game and reef fish while enjoying stunning scenery. You don’t have to head far to find offshore species like Yellowfin Tuna and Mahi Mahi. Fancy fishing closer to shore? Hit the shallows for Roosterfish and Snapper, or stay in the river itself for Mangrove Snapper, Corvina, and Grouper. Enjoy all this and more aboard a modern, 25’ custom-built center console. The vessel boasts an array of navigational electronics, an ice box for your catch, and a premium selection of lures, as well as Shimano rods and reels.
We love fishing with artificial lures, but natural bait is also an option. Please note that there are no bait shops in Sierpe, so, if you want fish in the ocean with natural bait we will spend some time during the trip catching our own fresh bait
Captain Pablo Chaves prides himself on staying adaptable during his trips. If you like, you can switch things up and try new techniques to get a feel for the action.
This is a slice of genuine Costa Rican sport fishing with a warm welcome and a can-do attitude. What more could you ask for? Please note: We are located in Sierpe, which is far away from Puerto Jimenez. If you are staying in Puerto Jimenez, please keep in mind that it is more than a 2-hour drive to Sierpe.

Pablo knows
5 hours Sierpe estuary Trip on January 6, 20251 adult

I tried to snag a rooster on fly heavy. They were there but it just wasn't my day. We ended with catching some snapper to eat for couple days. I'm a fishing captain in South Carolina and I would recommend this charter.

Nearshore Fishing (MAX 4) on August 15, 20232 adults

Sierpe-Fishing was an awesome fishing charter. Going into the ocean from the river was a unique experience. We caught 5 tuna's, 2 wahoo's, and 1 barracuda. We also got to see several whales while fishing around Cano Island. Thank you Pablo for the great experience. Would definitely recommend this charter..

8 hour trip with Captain Pablo from Sierpe Fishing
Nearshore Fishing (MAX 4) on January 15, 20213 adults

We travel to Costa Rica once a year. Every time we go I must go fishing at least once if not more. I am a Captain from the United States so I have certain expectations when I hire a charter. Captain Pablo from Sierpe Fishing came through with flying colors. I requested to jig fish and then try popping. Captain Pablo hade great equipment (which isn't always common in Costa Rica) all Shimano rods and reels. With an impressive selection of jigs and poppers. After the beautiful ride down the Sierpe river, we reached the ocean. Our trip started off slow, as the jig bite wasn't too hot. I did manage an African Pompono. With the tide fading, he switched us up to a troll for a little while with smaller diving swimmers. Within about 15 seconds we had our first yellowfin tuna. We ended up with 5 in the boat and releasing 3 before switching over to popping. We went around Caño Island and found some birds working. My crew of three all casted our plugs out and had tuna almost immediately. We played with them for a while before taking a break to try another jigging spot. All in all, our experience was awesome and I would recommend it to all.

A day to always remember with Captain Pablo.
Nearshore Fishing (MAX 4) on February 4, 20222 adults

I can't say enough about our trip with Sierpe Fishing. Captian Pablo is a true sportsman. His vast knowledge of fishing, boatsmanship, and the waters of Costa Rica is astounding!! Top notch equipment. Multiple fishing styles from trolling, to casting and jigging. Catching a variety of species was remarkable. Can't wait to return for another amazing adventure with Captain Pablo.

Response from Captain
