Captain Mac is operated by Capt. Joe McNamee. At the age of 19, Joe got his first captain's license and since then, he has been mastering his cast and exploring the waters from Cape May to Brigantine, gaining the necessary knowledge with over 40 years experience operating party and charter boats. If you are looking for an experienced captain who knows the area like the back of his hand, you have found the right place.

The “Captain Mac II” will be your boat for the day. She is a 27’ Shamrock powered by a 315 HP Yanmar engine. Captain Mac II features state-of-the-art navigational electronics and fishfinding technologies on board. There is a private toilet, enclosed cabin to get out of the sun or whatever mother nature throws at you. All tackle and bait will be supplied for you and your party but if you have your own “lucky rod and reel” – feel free to bring them along.

Captain Mac offers a variety of fishing trips that could suit any angler’s needs. A complete beginner or seasoned veteran, everyone is welcome to join in the adventure. All you need to bring is lunch, your favorite drinks, and a sweatshirt – it could be cool on the ocean. The crew will take care of the rest.

Your day out on the water will see you concentrating on local species in season such as: Bluefish, Flounder, Sea Bass, Blackfish, Croakers, Weakfish, Triggerfish, Drumfish and Striped Bass. You might even catch some Sharks. All you have to do is show up.

These guys are great, Captain Mac, and his crewmate Joe are extremely knowledgeable and have fished these waters for decades. We only ended up catching one small fish. Unfortunately, it was a morning where bad weather and wind negatively impacted our success however he did give us the option prior , if we wanted to reschedule or go to an area for smaller fish. However, we opted for taking our chances on several areas and larger fish, and aa any true fisherman knows that this is how it goes sometimes. These guys are personable, extremely knowledgeable with great service . Go with them and you won’t go wrong.

This trip was great. I took my son ( whos in the spectrum), my daughter and her boyfriend. Capt Mac and Joe were friendly, knowledgable and patient. I could not have found a better group to go out with. Such a wonderful experience with my family. The kids couldnt stop talking about it dinner. If your looking for someone to go out with, look no further. Thank you for a great day.

Great trip to spend with freinds

3 hour Back bay Striper fishing on October 7, 2025 • 3 adults

We booked out trip just a day before and even added an etra person the night before, the captain was wonderful and helpful it was worth every penny. Things started slow but ended with a good amount of fish. Even if it ended up as a dead day we would have been happy with the good conversation with the captain.

Captain Joe and first mate Joe were very nice and knowledgeable, moved us around so we were on fish all day long. May not of been best time of year to keep fish but we were over the Nj limit by 3 for size and fish. Ty captain and first mate Joe for a great time on water. We jad a good time
