About this listing
Captain Tom Weber is the man behind Florida Native Charters, specializing in light tackle and fly fishing the turquoise flats of the Biscayne Bay. Born and raised in Stuart, Florida, Tom caught his first fish at the ripe age of 2 on one of his family’s outings. Fishing has always been an integral part of the Weber family tradition and Tom was hooked from the very get go, and has spent the past 40 years exploring the inland waterways of South Florida, from Stuart to Islamorada. About 12 years ago, Captain Weber moved to Miami, and quickly realized his love for Biscayne Bay, both because of its beauty and its many amazing fishing opportunities.
Tom decided to become a fishing guide in the Miami area in order to share his fishing expertise and insight of the Biscayne Bay with his new fishing friends, whether they are just learning to fish or are already seasoned anglers. Having previously owned a staffing agency, Captain Weber is well-versed in the importance of quality customer service and believes this to be one of the most important factors in providing his guests with a fishing trip they won’t soon forget.
Captain Weber operates a 17’ Sterling Spector, powered by a single Yamaha engine with a maximum passenger capacity of 2 fishermen. The boat features a Minn Kota trolling motor as well as a push pole, and comes outfitted with a standard selection of marine and navigational electronics, such as GPS and Fishfinder. The vessel floats shallow, while being very quiet as well as stable with 88 inches of beam.
On his trips, Captain Tom chases some of South Florida’s most popular inshore species, including Tarpon, Snook, Permit, Bonefish, Jacks, Barracuda, Snapper, Grouper, Sharks and more. Tom is a firm advocate for conservation, and promotes catch and release of all game fish. A digital camera or a taxidermy mount are great alternatives for preserving that record Permit, Tarpon or Bonefish, while at the same time helping preserve the ecosystem.
